I understand that if fans didn't buy them them touts wouldn't exist, but that's why I said in my fist post that they're exploiting a desire which people have to see their favourite band.
Quite simply if the touts didn't buy up huge amounts, then the fans wouldn't have to resort to competing against each other on the black market.

Its nothing like it. I dont want to derail the thread, so have a read of this thread."I'm not even supposed to be here today."0 -
I'm a full-time seller of tickets on eBay and I would like to add my comments in a friendly manner. ( God, I sound like an alcoholic, lol ! )
I sold a few tickets a couple of years back and made a few pounds, since then I've purchased as many tickets as I can LEGALLY get my hands on and sell them on, admittedly with the hope of making a profit, but with the usual business risk of making a loss.
Like many, I'm there and ready before the onsale time, poised with the very simple tools of my quick fingers and one or two credit cards. Through practice I'm quick and very often get the tickets I'm after, but sometimes fail too. Often, we have no more 'advantages' than those offered by 'genuine fans'. We're practiced, so it doesn't take as long to type in addresses, card details etc and we don't suffer from the nerves that 'one off' ticket buyers might suffer from as the clock strikes 9.00am.
Seriously, I just sit at 8.55am like everyone, refreshing the page. Most of the time I strike lucky, maybe front row, sometimes I don't get any at all. No worries if I don't though, I know the tickets will be onsale again soon. Then it takes all the patience ( and boredom ! ) in the world to refresh and refresh for days, weeks and even months to get hold of tickets.
I now have a full time job, buying and selling these tickets. I work from 8.00am until 10.00pm 7 days a week regularly. I spend HOURS keeping spreadsheet records of my business, expenditure, profits, tax etc. I provide a highly professional and personal service with the aid of my webdesign and graphics background, rewarding me with a very healthy profit, LESS TAX. Yes, I go buy the rules.
There are those that despise what I do, I hear from about half a dozen of these out of the 1000+ transactions I complete each year. The 99%+ of all other buyers show their appreciation through their feedback and personal emails:
***GREAT E-BAYER !!! def recommended and will def use again!! CANNOT FAULT!!***
*F*A*B*U*L*O*U*S*. What more can I say. Definitely will use again. 5* service
Awesome. Defo hope to use again
Great tickets, great service, Thanks
Some of the emails I've received from buyers have really moved me. These people are so grateful for the chance to purchase tickets, being unable to do so themselves do to work/family commitments, not knowing about any gig in the first place or just not quick enough when the tickets are released. Here’s a message received only the other day from someone who FREELY spent £150 on a pair of tickets worth £35:
Just to let you know that i received the tickets in the post this morning. Just wanted to say a huge thankyou for a fantastic service, great communication and and a speedy delivery. I will be sure to leave you positive feedback, you're a real credit to ebay, it's just a shame there aren't more like you!
I buy tickets and offer them to others. I make profits and losses. I win some I lose some. I start my listings at 99p and let buyers decide what the final cost will be. If they choose and are able to pay ridiculous amounts then that's fine by me and obviously fine by them. I'm happy, they're happy.
I actually consider myself to be a very successful, conscious free, businesswoman and if I were to offer my skills and ‘tips of the trade’ to a lot of you out there, I’m sure you’d jump at the chance ! Infact, I know a lot of you do already
Whilst the opportunity is there and people want to buy, I shall sell. It's not going to last forever due to the government being under so much pressure from the 'disgruntled fans'. I'm preparing myself for that day by purchasing and selling other items, goods mainly, that I've been first in the rush to buy and then sold on for profit. Others have missed out on the bargain, and although a risk is involved, hopefully I'll reap in the profit when I resell stuff. I fail to see the difference really between this and selling tickets ?! Bread cost pennies to make but the supermarkets sell it for around a pound ?!?! I’ve bought property in the past that I rent out and hope to make me money in the future… am I preventing ‘real fans’ of housing from getting that house ?!?!? The examples go on and on…..
Despite my business success, almost every penny is spent on the cost of being a lone parent with kids ( I don't claim any benefits and live very modestly ). If I can make money to afford an occassional night out, something that is very rare, then again I shall sell tickets and other goods. If I sat at home not being an 'entrepreneur' and claiming every benefit from the state I could, I'd be slated for that too !
Anyways, I’ve got LOTS of Ebay work to do before my kids get home from school and I’m then juggling between being a fulltime lone parent whilst continuing my SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS into the late evening hours !0 -
Phew, did I write all that
Obviously got far too much time on my hands.... must get a proper job0 -

Post sniped.
You posted that rubbish once before.
So, post your eBay ID then.
Queue tumbleweed / mumbled excuses.
There was a time when trolling was an art form. Such a shame to see the quality drop so low.Not everything that's cheap is a bargain0 -

Nah. You just copied & pasted it like a good little trollNot everything that's cheap is a bargain0 -
Oh ScratUK, you are funny
And no, I won't post my Ebay id as a spoilt bod like you that's having a paddy 'cause you can't ever get want you want' ie 'a ticket', would childishly go all out to wreck my auctions for me and the genuine bidders who are keen to make a purchase. Too much time on your hands as well ?
Troll ? I luv it0 -
