  • Hi Does anyone know how many women have got through, I passed all stages and am still waiting on a phone call or email telling me if i have got a place or not.....:p
  • Hi everyone :hello:
To all those who have had the good news...CONGRATULATIONS!!!! :j and a big fat well done :T
To all who are still waiting I wish good luck and hope the good news comes your way soon, I know the wait is absolutley agonising.

I had my manual assessment on 14th Aug, interview on the 21st Aug, and received the good news this week

To those who have started...could you please tell me some info about the wages, in specific during the two weeks training.
    1) Is is weekly or monthly pay?
    2) How long after starting do you receive your first paycheck?
    3) What hours do you get for the first two weeks?
    4) How are your hours recorded? (swipe card, timesheet ect.)

I should have asked manpower when they phoned but was too excited after hearing the news I nearly peed myself:rotfl:

Thanks everyone, I'm looking forward to working with you ;)

    for those that asked

i did my online assesment 26/07
    attended interview 20/08/12

next day had confirmation email saying you are succesfull in completing all parts and 2 days after that had a call saying i start 10/09/12

i told them on my interview that i had to give 1 week notice to my current employer and didnt have any holidays booked

i think there are a number of factors when deciding which people mainly its your overall score from the internet tests manual test and interview. i think they take into account the pera english/maths tests aswell if they need to. and after that i suppose notice period holidays., then transport...maybe people traveling by car have priority ? as i was asked how i will get to work?

as someone else said on here...they are picking the best/highest scoring candidates first?

so if you have completed all stages sucessfully, then sit tight no point reading/thinking too much into the speculation as you will just get yourself worked up. relax and wait for the call.. You have done your best now its down to them.

21/08/12 confirmation email saying you are succesfull in completing all parts

i told them on my interview that i had to give 1 week notice to my current employer and didnt have any holidays booked..i could have started on 03/09/12 as it was still enough time for me to hand in my notice but when they told me 10/09/12 i was happy with that so didnt try to change it

That may or may not be true, however, they never see your pera score, at all, this was told to us quite categorically. The pera score is only for the teaching staff to gauge your individual needs! The way i see it is this, if you done your utmost best, then regardless of whether or not you get the job you can walk away with your head held high! Of course getting a job would be better, if you didn't give it your best shot you can only really blame yourself.

I really do wish everyone the best of luck, and if anybody does need help or have any questions i will gladly answer them provided i can.

you may be right punk, i do remember the pera chap saying the tests are for the training people to acertain your level of maths/english but i concentrated and gave it my best...there were people in there with me who seemed to finish 10 minutes before me but i took my time and read the questions carefully..i wanted to make sure that if it came to them making a decision between me and someone else based on my pera score then i wanted to do it right rather than rush it. i still finished before the allocated time. just do your best and dont worry about what others in the group are doing.

i came out of the test and there were a couple of people who were in there with me asking how it went...what you think etc...but all i said is ive done my best if i dont get it then its not meant to be!

i did the solihull test back in january but fluffed the manual one as i dropped a nut and didnt finish the test in time as a result...but i didnt kick myself over it or loose sleep because it wasnt meant to be.

if you dont get it just shrug your shoulders and move on...going by the news report yesterday the new range rover is out which should create more jobs at solihull so maybe theres hope for a few more candidates who passed and dont fall into the top x% scoring category.

Good luck to everyone and remember do your best, dont think too much because you will only work yourself up and mess up the next stage!

you should be proud to have got past the online tests as they are not easy and alot of people stumble on the first hurdle so if you managed to complete the lot successfully then its a big achievement.

Well, hopefully this is the start of big things to come, particularly for british manufacturing, i mean, west midlands was at the for front and had the biggest factory in Europe! Longrbridge had it's own helicopter pad! Maybe we are on the way to the heydays! I remember my dad taking me when he worked there, it was the biggest and most amazing place in the world, even more so when your 10 !!

Thanks, congrats back. I start on monday also. Yea, I've been told we're in a classroom for two weeks then on the line with a couple of assessments over the next ten weeks to make sure we're improving.

I figured it would be swipe cards but I didn't see anywhere to swipe in the manpower building so I'm thinking the pera tutors must record the hours for the 2 weeks in the classroom.

I'm sure the pera bloke said something like 'it's meant to be two weeks but it actually works out to be more like five days' Not sure what he meant by that.

That's whats got me wondering about the pay during those two weeks, if it's time on site or standard 40hr week?
Oh well, I guess we'll find out soon enough!

Also, have you been told to wear safety boots on monday?
My latest email from manpower says:

'Safety boots are compulsory for all locations, failure to wear will restrict you from the assignment.'

A bit extreme if we're just writing in a classroom eh?

Anyone gonna be wearing safety boots on monday?
I thought they were supplying ppe along with the uniform?

On the letter I got with my car park pass today it says that 'some of the training may be off site at another location such as JLR Solihull for example'
Has anyone from CB been to the Solihull plant for training?
