thanks sticky and twister took your advice spent an hour filling forms in before interveiw, went into interveiw told then i had an unspent conviction from 24years ago guess what i had my interveiw terminated so much for rehabiltation good luck guys and thanks for replying back to site work for the last 21years where nobody is worried about your past.

Ouch, only just come back to this thread after my other half failed to get the job a couple of months ago. Sorry to hear this, seems a bit harsh that they terminated the interview but the others are right, better to tell them now rather than them find out later and you end up getting the sack over it.
No news is good news mate! They are quick to tell you that you've been unsuccessful! Manpower are just waiting to hear from JLR for another infill!! your in mate!!

Have to agree with this! My oh got an email from them less than 24 hours after his interview telling him he hadn't got the job. He's anxious for them to start recruiting again (fingers crossed they start again in Feb as someone has mentioned in this post), although all this stuff about pensions, wages and staff not getting permanent contracts is a worry.
  • Got my manual assesment in Telford Mon 8th,did one back in jan and didn't get any further.Just wondering what to expect this time ? they allowed me to change dates this time, but at my previous one they were not flexible at all on times and dates. Not even sure what jobs are on offer this time round.
  • I got mine in Telford on Tuesday . I was wondering what I will have to do on assessment. I've done one for Solihull in the past but this time is emc so probably something to do with engine.
  • Hi everyone

I have an assessment next thursday for solihull plant for 'Automotive Production Operations' the assessment is for two hours.

I was wondering if anyone has any information as to what the assessment will consist of because I had assessment a few months ago and failed but it was only for 15 minuets.

Why is this assessment different ?

    Thanks!

I got my assessment coming up as well, done one earlier in the year. Yes it does involve an engine but nothing complex have a look at some earlier posts to get an idea of what to expect. There is no computer test at the end of the manual assessment.
  • Had a look on previous posts but I couldn't find any post which says what you need to do on assessment for emc. I worked in engine plant before so if it involves engine assemble I think it will be nothin hard. Fingers crossed. Thanks for info DMP2.
  • Note to all! after 1st jan 2015, all new recruit's through Manpower agency will have to work 5 years before they get a JLR full time contract! 10% will not get contracts and will remain agency support!!!

There will be a core of 90% JLR staff with 10% Manpower, as JLR people leave through "natural wastage" they will be replaced by the Manpower workers.

Whilst on Manpower they will get the wage increments starting at 70% going up to 80%, 90%, 92.5% 95% then 100% (this is the same progression that current Manpower are on). When they hit 100% they will then be offered a JLR contract.

I was really looking forward to a change of career, but this uncertainty is cause for concern. I could be leaving a job and moving to one which is about £4,000 less salary per year. Plenty to think about.

Well, I have my interview soon for a position at Solihull/Castle Browwich. And as they say, forewarned is forearmed. Just looking for a little bit of info as people close to the business don't seem to want to give too much away.

I am going through Manpower and just wondered, this 70% pay in the first year, do we know what this makes the hourly pay rate? I have heard lost of numbers thrown around, someone did mention £10.75 per hour, others have said £10.40?

Secondly, the job is Full-Time. Does anyone know exactly how many hours per week this is? I have heard it's 37, 37.5 and 38.

Finally, is there always overtime on offer, and if so do the Manpower staff get any extra or is it just paid at the normal rate?

    Thank you.

  • Asked a new lad last night, at Castle Brom 70% is £10.79, at the moment before pay deal (4.5%) plus any shift premium which ranges AFAIK from 16% to 33%. After 12 weeks you will get £30 weekly attendance allowance 37hr week.

Basic hourly rate at Solihull should be the same but not sure on the other stuff.

    So, 70% = £10.97
    After 1 year 80% = £12.33
After 2 years 90% = £13.87 (not sure of the further rates)
    + any pay rises.
