    Hi Everyone
Just a quick question for those that have just started.
I am starting next week. Was hoping for a bit of a heads up on what to wear while in the PERA training. I have got the boots/trainers as shown but was wondering about trousers. I see it says no jeans which is fine. I have bought some work trousers which have all Velcro pockets etc...But they have a metal zip. It is covered though. Will these be ok while in training?
I noticed the ones we tried on for size were button fly so this got me thinking.
Would appreciate any advice...Last thing I want is to be sent home !!

That should be fine for the training, you shouldn't be anywhere near any production cars for the Pera Training.

Also the type of uniform you are issued with will depend on where you end up being assigned. Trim & Final have trousers with rubber buttons, whereas BIW have trousers with metal zips and Paint is completely different again.

To be on the safe side you could phone and check with Manpower.

i did my interview in may and i got a call monday giving me a start date for the 11th of aug...
ive seen on a couple of posts that people who start in august are only being given short term contracts but the woman at manpower told me theres a possibility that i could be off for 2-3 weeks without pay but once they had passed i would be straight back in. now i know first hand manpower are very unreliable so wondering if anyone could help out as to weather they are short term contracts and i will just be F***** off or she might actually be telling the truth.
  • Start my training Monday 28th, suggestions for where to get work boots please??

I was told the exact same mate but I have spoken to a few people who work there who have heard nothing about those in August being on short term contracts, all they keep saying is keep your head down, don't be late don't turn down overtime.

However it is the case that with manpower we can get laid off at anytime but I cant see them doing that with the amount of cars they are pumping off the lines. I was also a bit uneasy when they told me we could get laid off for 2-3 weeks but she also said to me they have said this before and it hasn't happened.

Where did they say you would be working? It's a risk taking this job but if you don't take a risk in life you don't get nowhere

ano mate and an opportunity like this is definitely worth a risk..

they said id be on the body shop its for jaguar halewood..

also the woman on the phone told me it would be worse case scenario that i would be laid of for 2-3 weeks and also theres a possibility that they would put me on a NVQ course during the time i would be off ...
