Sorry to hear that mate. I think it's a ashame they seem to be basing their decisions on a task that isn't really relevant to the job. Someone who might have worked in production for years but aren't very good at assembly tasks are just going to be discarded after failing the brake task. Seems a strange way of doing things. Can I ask a question could you explain what the white nylon bolt is for?

Thanks mate and good luck in your job search

    Cheers buddy.

I suppose they have loads of applicants and they have to narrow them down somehow so any excuse is good for them I suppose, but I genuinely fu€¥ed up so I've got no beef...just wasn't meant to be.

The white nylon bolt is almost the last thing you put on, its difficult to explain but it screws on to the end of the long piece (in the middle of the 4 threads) I mentioned earlier. You just have to make sure you put it on the right way round.

    Good luck.

    Hi everyone,

Ive got my manual assesment on the 20th, bit nerviouse but kinda know what to expect from reading this... but i called up manpower today and they said its a "temporary ongoing position" so I asked them if there would be a chance to go permanent and they said "there is no idication of that" so what do you guys reckon ?? will there be a permanent position or is this just temporary and we will be layed off after six months ??? im already employed permanent but part time so I really dont know what to do if i get the job ... ???? what would you do, leave your permanent job which is only part time for a temporary full time position that payes more but you might not get a permanent job at the end... ???

    Hi mate,

    My advice -

Don't burden yourself with worries, stress and decisions that you don't yet need to make. Lifes too short.

Worry about it when Manpower tell you that you've got the job. There's a long way to go yet.

As I understand it (I have a few friends at Jaguar) the vacancies are on 3 month rolling contracts...temporary. They will get rid of about 20% of the new intake through lateness, absenteeism and general unsuitability for the job. The remaining staff can be on these 3 month contracts for up to 2 years...but usually if you keep your head down and get on with the job, don't complain, don't have time off and are never late etc... They will offer permanent contracts at about the 12 month point, but no guarantees.

    Magic.
