Hi guys, just to add to what gaz has said, I was on the same induction as him, due to track needs I have already worked on three seperate jobs , all the guys have been great and as I have had to pick the jobs up real quick helped me out a treat. Yeah it's graft but you make it hard on yourself by flapping. Best to take a step back and relax and the flow comes. Haven't seen any of the animosity between Jlr and manpower, most started that way and are quite annoyed that we newbies only get 70% ,even if I just accept its the way it is.
Most of us went on shifts.very few got put on defender which is days and less money. Some others did need to volunteer to join them though.
Good luck , relax and just do exactly as you are told when you are told to0 -

Best try and find someone off your course who will swap shifts with you if your on the wrong colour to your mate, then go and ask after you have been given your colour but before you are taken the track. You may have a very small opportunity to change at that point. If you have someone already lined up to swap it might make it easier.
I suggest you form your own opinion at that point.I got the impression they weren't to keen on how many people wanted to swap on our course and think they were all told no as there was too many. Guy who sorts it all was fine, top man but reminded everyone that they operate a flexible work force and you could be changed again anyway.
As it happened it didn't bother me I was just releived to be on 3 shifts. My advice would be best not to be noticed as a pain in the butt and keep our head down but if only a couple need to change that might be different. My mates on a different shift didn't really count as a reason was the impression I got.
When they put your payroll number on the board look to the right and it will say what section you are initially destined for. I know this isn't your shif pattern and is subject to change ( mine and some others did ) but at least it's a bit more knowledge.
