AOL Cable Broadband and Wireless problems

Hi
Is anybody here on AOL Cable Broadband?
I have recently tried to install a wireless broadband router on an AOL cable modem (Ethernet based and installed on the NTL distribution system) but with no results. AOL have a list of recommended wireless routers, but mostly for ADSL connections which use a phone line.
Having followed the instructions on line and having called customer services (via an 0870 line at 8p per minute), it has been impossible to solve this problem.
As AOL are widely advertising their wireless broadband service, they do not offer much advice on installing a router for the purpose.
People who sign up for AOL broadband are contracted for 6 months so if I wanted to go over to NTL Cable (available in my area and easy to set up on wireless routers) I would still be contracted to pay AOL until the end of the contract.
As AOL's cable modem based service (actually supplied and installed by NTL in my area) is not useable on wireless, is there any way of getting out of the contract?
They do provide a reliable broadband service but without the wireless option availble to everybody, is it really a good deal?
Has anybody else tried to upgrade to wireless with AOL?

Which wireless router did you try to use? Should be no problem connecting the NTL cable modem to the wireless router via Ethernet cable. Power up the modem first, wait for it to settle and then power up the router. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

It is a D-Link Ethernet based router. It installed OK and the ethernet connection (Local Area Network) showed it as connected. Trouble is, despite following AOL's recommendations and logging on using 2 differnt screen names, AOL just will not allow it to log on.
NTL will connect to any suitable router using Ethernet but if your connected to AOL, it uses PPPoE but it will only work on your main modem and not through a router.
I have tried this router on my own NTL connection and there is no problem whatsoever
