Bosch is the one for me. My sister has a Zanussi and she said it is great. Either make has a good reputation.

I did a lot of research a year ago regarding washing machines. General consensus was the German brands were the best, ie, AEG and Bosch, but they do tend to be a bit more expensive. In the end I went on family recommendations and got a Zanussi, and so far its fab (Touch wood!). 2 people i know had hotpoints that broke within 12 months.
Best to get one with a removable filter, therefore if anything gets stuck you can remove it yourself without having to call an engineer to take the back of the damn thing! (you can tell if the have one as they will have a little removable cover on the front of the washing machine - on my zanussi its on the bottom right)
