Indesit are part of Merloni (Hotpoint, Creda), Electrolux have the Tricity, Electrolux, Zanussi and AEG brands, BSH (Bosch Siemens Hausgeraete) have, surprise surprise, Bosch and Siemens.
Siemens compete directly with Miele for the premium brand crown, but AEG is up there too. Zanussi and Bosch compete as good second string brands.
Samsung will make you just about anything, from a camera to an office block, and as they say 'Jack of all trades, master....'

I'd buy a Bsch over an AEG nowadays at any time.

The cheaper AEG's are no longer of the same build quality that they were 5-10 years ago. Since the company was bought by Elexctrolux, the lower end of the range is built in Spain with Electrolux parts :( Not in Germany like they used to be.

  • miele (if i had the money!), bosch or AEG - nearly always in the top for reliability in Which? tests.

I've had an AEG for 12 years, only fixed once - a stretched spring when I put far too many towels in once too often , cost me £30. Excellent machine, very sound, no concrete weight inside, stainless drum & a spring suspension. Highly recommended - an I have 3 teenagers & a rugby player xxx

  • According to the latest Which survey dated 21/02/07 Tricity Bendix are the top followed by Miele, then Bosch, then Siemens.

Just for interest they also say "The Hotpoint Aqualtis AQXXL129 and Indesit WIA121 claim the dubious honour of being the first two washing machines we’d recommend that all Which? members avoid. "
