Just look at the various PPC websites, I am sure they will be full of successful court cases that they have brought. Or maybe not....

And if they have bought successful cases you would think they would refer to one newer than a 2008 case in their letters?

A retailer is begging to be sued by a disabled person when they get harassed for parking in a disabled bay without displaying a worthless piece of blue card.

    Consider this.

Ppeterson runs a PPC and makes money out of this. The more people that pay up, the more money he makes.

People who post advice on here make no money from it whatsoever. They do it in their spare time, for free, to help others.

Now ask yourself what the motivation is from each side of the argument, and consider why people on here post what they do.

Speak for yourself. I only post on here because I'm a cantakerous old fart with nothing better to do. :)

I'm interested in finding out about the harassment route of fighting back.

Is there case law on the subject (Ferguson v British Gas springs to mind) or are there established levels of damages?

Edit - Since typing this message, I've been contacted by PM ;)

Actually I'm just trying to avoid doing some actual work...

And I'm posting during coffee times.

I've just registered as I read your post and have also been searching for the same information. However I'm looking for info as I am due to appear in court soon.

I've been reading this form for a while now and the advice given is pretty spot on except that I am one of the 0.001% that actually get taken to court. I will post up what happens after the hearing but following tonight's Watchdog I am feeling ever more confident.

The trouble is, even with all the info suggesting that the victim will win it is difficult to feel 100% confident and especially when the parking company is threatening to claim over £2000 in legal costs. I still think this is ambitious but it ain't over till the fat lady sings and until the judge makes his decision I'm not taking anything for granted.

On thing is for sure and that is without the guys on here and people like Alexis (who offer their time for free) the parking companies would be making more of a killing than they already do.

I sincerely hope that my case is successful and that I can post up a victory in due course but will post either way to help people like you to gain a better understanding of the whole process. I've learnt a hell of a lot thanks to Alexis so would definitely say to ignore anyone on here that tries to make out that the parking companies have it all their own way.

ETA. I'm not going for the harassment thing although am making a point of their letters being threatening and not compliant with the debt collection guidelines.

2 grand in legal costs? Which company is it? And which solicitors are they using?

I'm only registered recently also and I'm dealing with my own case at the minute, which I hope I'm handling well.... It seems to me like the PPC imposter(s) tend to target the threads of new posters who are dealing with their first case, it also seems to be a draw to the trolls if the user appears slightly nervous or scared about the whole thing, this is certainly how I felt not too long ago and had one of the trolls all over my thread trying to scare me into giving up... Thankfully though, the helpful folk on here persisted with their reassurance and I now have the confidence to wave off the threats and potentially take action against the PPC's... I do agree with the above post regarding the payment of the PPC workers/the voluntary work of the forum members and the reasoning behind it... Also, good luck with your case NewBoy, not that you'll need it ;)
