End of a 2 year contract

My contract with Vodafone ends on the 1st of April...They haven't offered me any kind of discount on the iphone even though I have two contracts with them and just finished a 2 year contract so I'm going to look elsewhere, if they are only going to offer the same deal as what new customers get then I don't see the point in being loyal.

I rang up to get my PAC code and was told that after the 1st of April I need to give them 30 days notice to cancel the contract...So confused as the 1st is the last day of the contract!!??

However, we were told if we go and get another phone with say Orange and give them the PAC code before the 1st the contract will go ahead and be cancelled on the 1st and we will no longer have any more charges and will not need to give 30 days notice...Is this correct??! Surely if we do it before the 1st the mobile number will be transferred and it will look like we are trying to leave the contract early. So confused

I know how they can be total con artists from previous issues I have written about on here so I want to make sure this is totally right! :rotfl:

The contract doesn't end. It is the minimum term that does.
The notice can be given at any time, not only after the 1st of April. You should have given it on the 2nd of March. If you give it today you will pay until the 26th of April pro-rata even if you port the number out earlier.

BTW, IIRC Vodafone require the notice to be given in writing - by mail or e-mail. If you give it over a phone and don't want to port your number request a confirmation from them.
