Help - JSA stopped because of land

Hi,
Hoping someone can advise me. My JSA has been suddenly stopped because they say I have more than £16k capital.
This is becuase I own some very small plots of land which were previously being disregarded for JSA and are now being taken into account after a review (I have had it up for sale but it seems no-one wants to buy!)
However, I think they have over-valued the land so I intend to appeal. I need an independent valuation of the plots to make this case.
Anyone know how I can get the land valued without spending too much to do it?
Any help appreciated!

Why not just sell the land at a price that someone's prepared to pay?

What price do you have it up for sale for?

  • Are there shops/houses/offices/farms adjacent to any of the land who may be more interested than others to buy it? i.e. to extend their garden/farm/car-park or whatever? Have you tried approaching them direct and cutting out the middle-man?

Yes I am now cutting the price to a bargain level just to get rid of it, as I've had no takers at a reasonable price - would love to be shot of it. I wouldn't mind not getting the benefits if I actually had the cash to live on, in fact I'd prefer it, but at the moment I've got neither.

Thanks skintandscared - maybe I should try other approaches to selling it.

Meantime though I still need a cheap way to get an independant valuation for my JSA appeal evidence.

If you sell the land at auction, the sale will be quick.
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.
