I bought a lot from BHS for my boy through this age - he is tall & skinny though!

I sympathise with the problem - and I'm glad that others have been able to give you suggestions on other places to look for clothes in DS's size.

Having been through the same situation in the past year or so, I can offer the thought that he will grow out of it! And then you'll be buying - more expensive - men's clothes!

My DS got through the difficult, in-between-sizes, time by wearing some slightly oversized cheap joggies (which fit much better after I had tumble dried them at too high a temperature :o).

For 'dressier' occasions, he had a couple of pairs of trousers which were a good fit on the legs, but way adrift at the waist. I made a couple of inexpert 'tucks at each side of the waistband, and bought him a nice belt to cinch in the rest...

Not his favourite time, clothes-wise. But at least he was covered... :o

DS is 12, tall and skinny. Asda do school trousers with adjustable waist tapes, which are quite baggy round DS's puny thighs. They also do tracksuit style waistbands on a lot of their jeans and combats, and they are cheap (essential when your child is growing at DS's speed!)

I find H&M and Primark are ok for teen boys stuff, also Asda. I have 2 teenage boys, it is a nightmare!
  • H&M is brilliant, especially for girls' clothes but I hear anecdotally also for boys.

An 'age 14' in girls' clothes can fit an adult 10-12, so childrens' clothes shops going up to this size cover the inbetween stage very well.
