First question to ask is would they allow you to pre-load as it is a standard credit card and this is not normally allowed

It's against their T & C to put the account into credit and, according to people who've tried it, it is likely that they will block the card for 'suspicious activity'

11.7 You must not make payments or transfer funds from another credit or store card to your account that would leave a credit balance on your account. We may return any funds that exceed the balance owing on your account to the account from which the money was sent.

Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the end

If you're only going for a week or two it's not worth it, as above it's against the T&Cs although some people have done it without a problem.

If you've got the 12.9% APR then you'll likely only pay about £3 or so interest on a 2 week holiday, if you pay it off as soon as you get back.

Just been comparing rates at travelmoney.moneysavingexpert.com and I noted Thomas Cook seemed to be a good place nearby me (Yorkshire) to pick up. For 300 Euros the site was suggesting £255.86, but when I ventured to the TC site I was quoted £257.29. Seems the £255.86 is for the London Bureaux which is annoying. Maybe the mse site should be changed to reflect this?

I usually send a £600 payment the day I go on holiday and then withdraw 300 euros on the next couple of days. Then later on in the holiday I withdraw more euros and if I can get internet access send more payments. I have been in credit on occasion with no problems.

Did you post in the wrong place?

This thread is about pre-loading a Halifax Clarity CC.

Then you've been lucky. There have been several posts on here in the last couple of years from people who've tried this and then found their account has been frozen, leaving them with no cash or credit whilst abroad
