....we're penalised as we can't contact this "team" during their work hours as they're the same as our work hours. Can't contact on breaks either. So my gf is limited to Saturdays & i'm limited to a Saturday .... if i ever get one..

You are not doing yourself any favours if you cannot find the time to contact them on the phone.

They are open at times that do not interfere with your working hours, see other threads. It just is totally and utterly unbelievable that both you and your girlfriend work 8am - 9pm Mon-Fri, and 8am-4pm Sat, with not even any time during breaks to attend to your important financial matters.

Don't you think it is funny that you do find time during these times to post your complaints on MSE.....

I don't know where you get 9pm from??

I called Santander yesterday, knowing full well that their ISA team closes at 5pm. I figured that SOMEONE would be able to help. They put me through to the dept that would help..............then came the message saying sorry we shut at 5pm. We're open 9am-5pm Mon-Friday. Please call back during these times.

    Well i work 7:30am - 5:30pm as a minimum. Tonight i finished at 6:50pm.

Yes i get break time, but not much at all. Certainly not long enough to be put on hold for eternity, then go through the age of security questions. When all that is complete it'll be time for me to return to work.
We get slightly & i mean slightly, longer for dinner. Again, with all the waiting & then passing security, i could quite easily have no time to eat whatsoever.

My gf is in the same boat Mon-Fri. Santander's ISA team seem to only operate Mon-Fri according to their recorded message. If she can call a dept on Saturday then this is no problem for her as she doesn't work weekends, yet i work 7:30am - 4:00pm on Saturday .... every Saturday pretty much. We have had our Saturday rota released & there's not a Saturday off in sight for me, unlike others in my department.

I do however get Sunday's off work, but oh hang on ... banks don't work Sunday's.

I just tried calling Halifax to find out where my ISA has disappeared to, only to be told that it'll be at least 20 minutes before my call is even taken ... & that's before you go through the security. If i did this on my break at work i'd spend the entire break on hold.
Then there's the cost of 0845 on a mobile, especially when i've little credit as it is & can't just afford to throw credit on the mobile just to be kept on hold.

    Halifax- 8am-8pm Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm Saturday.

I normally find that they'll answer the phone within a couple of minutes. If the message says that it'll be over 10 minutes, then just hang up and try again another time.

Don't call the 0845 numbers for anyone - use https://www.saynoto0870.com to find a geographical number.

I used 0870 one time. I can't remember which bank, or which department number it was for. All i do remember is that they told me that i'd called the wrong dept & i need to call the right dept.

I'm beginning to wonder why i even bothered. This has turned out to be more hassle than it is worth. To happen once to the gf could've been accepted as a mistake, but to happen to us both in quick succession is highly unlikely.

    .

From there ("Apply for a new Savings Account", or "New ISA accounts")

Or if you want to "Manage your savings account", you can speak to an advisor 7am - 11pm Mon-Sat, and 8am -10pm Sun (same page).

It's very easy to post up links with times.

    I can do it too:

    http://www.theaa.com/aboutaa/contact.html#tabview%3Dtab3

which if you look on the right hand side says:

    "Customer services: 0800 917 8612 24 hours"

How is this relevant you ask...

The fact is, i call the ISA team & i get an auto-message saying 9am-5pm Mon-Fri, end of & the line goes dead. I try another number who re-direct me to the ISA team, i then get the auto-message & the line goes dead.
So it doesn't seem to matter what the website says ... the line goes dead.

But why have you linked about the AA you ask as i've still not explained...

I needed to contact them. The number there says 24 hours ... so if i wanted to call at 3am then in theory i should be able to.
Why then when i called did i get told another 5pm finishing time. I call the other number on the page who tell me they can't help & i need to call the number i just linked .... which shut at 5:00pm (30 minutes before i finish work, how nice it must be to know what time you finish work).

So despite what websites may say, the reality of it seems to be something different.

That phone number is listed on their website under 'Credit Cards', so it's no wonder that they couldn't help with your ISA enquiry.

Especially as two different companies operate the credit card and savings businesses for them!

I don't know whether you're being serious or trying to be funny.

As it seems people here like to be serious, i'll assume that - in which case i never said that i asked them about my ISA enquiry.

I was merely illustrating that the hours of business a website states isn't necessarily true. AA say their credit card line is open 24 hours. I called regarding a credit card with AA & got told they shut at 5pm.

innovate says i can call until 11pm about my ISA as some web page says the line is open until 11pm, yet when i call i get told ISA team is open Mon-Fri, 9-5.

ATEOTD it doesn't matter what a website says. If the line wont connect then it wont connect.
