No, from memory you ignored it and continued to state what you've said above (that I quoted) despite myself and others quoting (with links) the FOS statement on case fees.

Umm, i don't know if y ou two are disagreeing with each other & therefore in the MSE-way trying to get one over on each other, but in the meantime, who is at fault here? Who should the blame lay with?

As said, if the transfer form goes through then the blame surely has to be Halifax.
If however, the system is just that Santander say "can you close that account & give us all the money" then the blame would have to lay with Santander.
We don't really want to waste time blaming & complaining at one when it should be the other.

Nobody here can answer that question for you, because we don't know what Santander asked Halifax to do. And nor do you. Do they send a copy of the form you signed?...I suspect not. What I'd imagine happens is that these things are dealt with electronically these days, so your form has been reproduced in some other format (which would seem to imply a Santander issue). Then again Halifax could have mis-read the correctly completed Santander instruction.

I've given you the best answer you're going to get in post #7, namely lodge formal complaints with both organisations, copy in the FOS, stating (and paraphrasing heavily) "I have a concern. Someone has cost me money. I don't know you, but between you sort it out and reimburse me".

I've even given you the outcome of my complaint. The only thing I forgot to say earlier is that I approached the FOS the same day I lodged complaints with YBS and A&L, and was paid out within 5-7 working days from memory.

    Thanks.

Regarding my questioning of the system - i don't know if there's a system that all banks use & if there are any bankers on here, so i was just throwing it out there.

How long before you would expect the money to finish transferring over? She sent off the form about a week & half, maybe 2 weeks ago. The money has disappeared from Halifax for about a week or so (i'd have to check the other thread for an idea of date). There's still nothing showing in Santander for her, so this money is now "floating" & not gaining anything.

Obviously, she doesn't want it to remain "floating" too long. So when should she realistically (without any Santander jibes) expect to see it land in her account?

I have. Quite a few hits without any real clarity. The definition of "standard case fee" is delegated the FSA handbook. No time to research this time but will be ready next time:D.

If I've followed correctly, the OP has asked that the balance of a Halifax ISA, except £1, is transferred to a Santander ISA.

Wouldn't this result in two cash ISA accounts from the same financial year being open at once? I don't think this is allowed:

Update - just seen 'old money' and 'this year' references. Ignore me....

    Banks SEND THE FORM.

They don't interpret the instructions and send them electronically. The bank paying out the money needs to see the signature and receives the form with the clear instructions.

So, if Santander have their copy of the form, saying not to close the account, and Halifax have ignored the instructions, then Halifax should ask Santander to return the £1 and reinstate the account as if it was never closed.

Are you trying to break the MSE record for the most new threads on the same subject by the same poster?

Hmm, the gf has just informed me that all her Halifax ISA has been returned.

Don't know what on earth is going on with it now & due to the fact that we work, we're penalised as we can't contact this "team" during their work hours as they're the same as our work hours. Can't contact on breaks either. So my gf is limited to Saturdays & i'm limited to a Saturday .... if i ever get one.

Thanks for the information. See i didn't know what the procedure was & suspected this may be the only accurate way of doing it.

But the problem has now been duplicated as my own ISA has vanished. Instead of £2.7k, my problem is with £17.7k.

I find the more a thread gets replies, the less chance you have of getting your question answered. Not just this forum, but any forum that i've been on - which is many. It either gets skipped or people just think oh that thread has 50 replies to it, everything must be sorted. But make a new thread & hey presto your question that has been ignored which you asked in another thread suddenly gets answered within 5 mins.

Besides, if i was, it'd only be my own record i would be trying to break

    ;)
