Currys Made me really angry

OP is accusing someone at Currys of fraudAnyways, I returned home and called head office. They refused to deal with the issue as it was fraud (their words),0

Just to clarify: I did not bring in a bank statement to Currys. I brought in a printed, detailed list that the bank printed out for me. It tells me what dates money have been taken out, it names Currys as the receiver and it has a reference number.
Listen, I really appreciate people here being informative and trying to help. I'm not expecting any of you to fix this for me. I wanted to vent and inform others to keep an eye out if they've bought something. I was annoyed at the lack of customer service, both from the store manager and head office. I'd like to reiterate that it was Currys' head office that said it was fraud, not me. My bank was very good and refunded me the money within hours. I will write to Currys to let them know about this incident and that I'm not pleased by their level of customer service. Other than that, I think the issue is resolved.
For those who mentioned that my account might have been hacked: surely it would be for a larger amount and not going to Currys? Or maybe not?
I've of course cancelled the DDebit through my bank.
Thanks again to those trying to help.0 -
Trolleyrun,
The detailed list still doesn't have any references people in store can track.
I would certainly go further for two reasons, if it was a purchase that you made and a customer advisor setup a DD on that without your knoweledge then I'd want the CA to be disiplined if found out to be in the wrong, if the DD were setup by someone else on a purchase you didn't make then surely for your own security I'd want to know, because otherwise someone still have your details. (Not unusual for people to use small amounts as it's not found easily).
If Currys say it's fraud I'd push for a reason, they don't have to give a detailed one, but one that makes sense such as it was purchased on the other side of the country to a different name/address. (Also if it was Fraud, as others have mentioned there is no contract between yourself and Currys, and all resolutions would be done with the Bank/Police and yourself.)
If you just leave it the way it is without getting to the bottom you leave yourself open for another future problem with someone trying a even larger money transfer.0 -
Slight correction if you read back, the OP told us that someone at Currys made the first accusation of fraud.
Just because Currys said it could be fraud does not mean it was someone at Currys who committed the fraud - anyone could take out some sort of monthly service, and give the OP's account number & sort code and the direct debit would be instated - it's still fraudulent.
Although I'm struggling to think of *any* service where the monthly payment would be in excess of £50...trolleyrun wrote: »My bank was very good and refunded me the money within hours.Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0 -

Your bank is operating under their obligations as per the direct debit guarantee.
Currys and PcWorld do a thing called "Infinity" which is essentially a loan system which COULD be over £50, if this is the case someone has cloned the card, stolen the OP's identity as well (you need to show ID).
Like I said, I wouldn't let this rest, it has terrible consequences by not dealing with it.0 -

Like I said, COULD, and that's the only reasonable thing I can think of under a DD, but as the OP doesn't answer how long its been running and what the individual amounts are everyone is really clutching at straws in this thread.0
