Currys Made me really angry

Apart from the money issue here, it's all about customer service and expectation.
If a customer comes to me with an issue I can't deal with it is up to me to refer this to the correct person/department and ensure that they contact the customer. Not to give them a number to ring and certainly if they have come to our office, for me to make the call, explain to the other person the outline of the problem and then hand the phone to the customer!0 -

My thoughts exactly.
Whenever I read "the staff were rude", I immediately see that as "The staff did not drop everything give in to my every demand, no matter how much I berrated them." Maybe I'm just a cynic, but shop staff on the whole are not "rude" by nature.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. This would concern me. Despite the successful resolution by the bank, I'd still want to pursue it with Currys.
If I were you, OP, I'd write a letter to Currys' complaints division. They might want to take it further or at least try to identify whether it's a one-off mistake. I'd probably drop a little of the attitude though. You do come across as overly combative. I'd also stick to the fraud issue; what happened to your friend is by-the-by."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Er, reading the OP it seems that it was Currys who mentioned fraud during a phone call! All Trollyrun wanted was an explanation for the loss £100 and tried to deal with the store it may have originated from.
At the very least the store manager should have instigated a discussion with head office from the store rather than just give out contact details and wash his hands of it!
The OP's words :
"I'm amazed that Currys obviously has someone within their company who commits fraud and they're not bothered!"0 -

So?
OP wanted Curry's to sort out the problem that they had created.
In conversation with them they mentioned fraud.
They were not prepared to take any urgent action to correct the error/fraud.
It's barely believable that there are cretins in this thread giving the OP a hard time when Curry's have demonstrably helped themselves to monies to which they were not entitled and not moved heaven and Earth to ameliorate their incompetence. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
Your whole post makes you come across as quite rude, maybe this came across to the store manager too ?
Isn't the OP allowed to vent her spleen in a ermmmmm..... vent, praise and warning thread?
She has vented her annoyance at Curry's taking an unauthorised fee from her account (and so would I ) and she has praised her bank for resolving the missing cash.
She has also warned other customers to check their bank accounts in case of fraud or a system glitch is the cause.
We should be thanking the OP - not berating her!0 -
I'm wondering how Currys got hold of OPs account number and sort code to even set up a direct debit without OP knowing, don't they use chip and pin so couldn't have taken the details off the card as they wouldn't have the card in their possession in the first place.
Either at some point OP has given these details either verbal or handed a card/cheque book over for them to be copied or someone else outside Currys has stolen OPs details and has used them to set up a direct debit.
I'm guessing it's either a case of OP forgetting they'd agreed to and signed for the direct debit or were offered a month free of "whatever happens" and forgot to cancel it before further payments were taken.0 -
The OP is accusing Currys of stealing money from them, they've been refunded by their bank, it's possible that they may be redebited yet depending on what action their bank have taken.
Currys said they couldn't tell them what had happened and to contact their bank. I can't see what they've done wrong really and can't understand the OP's attitude. It seems that they were annoyed by Currys comment about whether their friend had paid for their goods, which had nothing to do with the OP's question.
Just my opinion, no one knows at the moment whether Currys have helped themselves to the customers money without good cause. Could be a genuine transaction, could be fraud, wonder if the OP will let us know ?0 -
I'm wondering how Currys got hold of OPs account number and sort codeTwo DDebits had been set up, both for the same amount.
Or was a debit card used for the original transaction and a payment set up to be taken from that?0
