Parking ticket demand from England, car owner lives in Scotland

Options
A friend who lives in Scotland and the car registered in Scotland was on holiday in England and overstayed his welcome in a store car park.

He has received the usual threatening demand which he is ignoring but is there any fun to be had because of this?

For instance if they took him to court where would it be, Scotland or England?

Nowhere, as it is a fake impersonation of authority parking ticket and they would loose in court.
On fun, you could make paper aeroplanes or origami.
Anything else involves contacting them and thats how the scam works.
    Any more questions

It has other uses, toilet paper (depending how soft it is)

Treat it in the same way.

Tell your friend to Ignore everything they send to them.

They would have to take out a claim in Scotland. Given that Scotland told the wheel clampers where they could go 20 years ago, I don't think they would get much sympathy from a Scottish court.

But, as Vax says, they won't actually be taking it anywhere at all; it is just hot air.

TBH, even the Scottish PPC's don't seem to know hat side of the border they operate on and the English ones don't seem to know we exist at all.

So all this does is add an extra layer of unenforceable to the ones that are there already.

Stop worrying and just ignore the jokers. :)

Who were the scammers by the way ? Not that it makes any difference as they in general don't do court, don't think I have heard of anyone going to court up there.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

For Info ... The company could sue you in either the Scottish or English courts.
The contract was deemed to have been formed in England.
If they wanted to sue you in Scotland then they could, also remember that Scotland has binding case law in respect of parking charges and/or parking fines.

Firstly, Perky, they couldn't sue the OP as the OP was not the driver.

Secondly, if you're going to [STRIKE]snout[/STRIKE] spout such nonsense, let's see some evidence.

OP - ignore anything you hear from this guy, he's a PPC troll. As other - considerably more respectable - posters have already said, your friend has nothing to worry about.

CIVIL JURISDICTION & JUDGMENTS ACT 1982: I am afraid our PPC troll is trying to mislead- as usual.

Technically correct I suppose. You could "bring" an action, but it would be declared incompetent. An English court can't make a binding order against someone domiciled in Scotland. You are a mine of disinformation, Perky.
