Ace, Wildfire or s/thing else - good deal?

I'd really welcome any advice on this.

Virgin are offering me 600mins/1GB data/3000 texts for £16.53 with a Galaxy Ace or £18.53 with a HTC Wildfire. It would be my first smartphone (every time I have looked I give up confused with the options!) but told best to be going for 750mb/1GB.

Does this seem a reasonable priced deal?
