I have NEVER had any clubcard points added on for using my own bags!! Mind you I shop in the Tescos where the staff don't ven know what a leek looks like0

I complained to the asa, all right it was a bit extreme, but i got a bit miffed with they're "We're saving the planet by doing this adverts". Quickly got an offer from tescos to add all my points on with very little effort on my part.0

With the double points offer on at the moment, are the sales assistants supposed to double the number of points you get for reusing the bags or are the points for reuse automatically doubled by the system? Today the assistant said to me that there was a double points promotion on and she would give me 8 points instead of 4, no-one else has done that since the promotion started. By the way I've noticed that I am getting my re-use points much more often now ( as opposed to having to virtually fight to get them added )as there must be a prompt coming up on the till to tell the assistants to add them.0

I found what you said, MATH, very interesting: way back before Tesco started running these green points for bag reuse i bought some big (twice the size of carrier bags, if not bigger) tesco bags, material ones, that are very sturdy. When the points first started i would get 2 or sometimes 3 point for each bag i used, which was great, although i found with some sales assistants i had to gently remind them to put them on (as others have found).
However last time i went i only got 1 point for each bag, although i had easily 4 or 5 carrier bags worth of shopping. I went to customer services to ask about it and got told that there was nothing she could do about that, and the way she looked at me, like i was some greedy mean penny pinching *insert rude word here*, which i didn't really appreciate, as you can imagine. I thought it was a case of the management telling the staff to stop giving away the points so readily (as they do, especially with things like vouchers for schools or petrol vouchers, they don't bother to count them out), but given what you've said, that's maybe not the case. Maybe i should write a letter?
on the other hand i do admire Tesco for doing this, it does encourage reuse of carrier bags, so i feel very torn.
what do other people think?

I regularly use two Tesco stores - an Extra and a Metro.
The metro store always add on the points and on every visit, ask "Are you reusing any bags today?" before they ask if need help packing - you tell them how many bags and they'll credit the points.
On the other hand, the Extra store always "forgets" to add the points. When I queried with the cashier why I hadn't received my 2 points, she replied "You didn't mention you were reusing bags". I was only holding two full bags for life - so obviously, I wasn't reusing any bags!!! My response to this was four carrier bags (which is what I would have used had I not used a bag for life) being pulled off the side and placed into my bag for life (before anyone asks, I've already reused and recycled these extra bags). The cashier tuttted but I think she learnt a lesson there.0 -
I love the idea also of reusing the bags but you do have to remind the c a and also do check your bill/points unfortunatley it doesnt always pay to use the BIGGER BAG?! and till april its double pointsso i always greet them then say ihave x amount of bags ...on one occaasion the ca did have the hump so although i has just ove £100.00 worth of shopping refused to help back by pilining all ontop of each other and tutting to just sitting there with her hands folded,,,,,,,,,,,,,Moo lady ...Still it was I who got her 7 bags ie 14 points .......love itDon't sweat the small stuff, Its all small stuff.0

If it helps, I work in a Tesco Metro and occasionally do a stint on checkouts. Staff are told (verbally, posters in store and prompted at the end of every transaction) to ask if the customer is re-used bags. Every till should have a little card by it outlining how many points to award for each size of bag/box/wheelbarrow etc. I can't remember of the top of my head how many points for each but perhaps someone could list them here and then customers could tally them up and tell the cashier how many LOL.0

yes please. I'm getting really tired of arguing with tescos customer assistants. Every time i go there i get a different number for the exact same bloomin bag.

The lovely SA forgot to add mine so took my clubcard back and added them on after the transaction. It seems pretty simple to do."I did then, what I knew then. And when I knew better, I did better"0

Yes, as the green clubcard points appear on your receipt as an item called "Bag Re-Use", I would think that they could just put through a few "Bag Re-Use" items without you buying anything (i.e. in a seperate transaction).0
