Boiler Replacement

Hi Guys,
Just brought a flat and i'm looking to get the boiler replaced.
I currently have a Pottertons Kingfisher MF with a ancient looking control panel, i think its a Landis & GYR, there is also a pump connected as its a flat without a gravity system.
So we have heating but no hot water at all. The boiler doesn't even turn on if we turn the hot water on, also the pump is really noisy and the water comes out the hot tap so fast that its unusable.
I could get it fixed but I've spoken to a couple of people who reckon we'd be better off replacing the whole system with a new combi boiler.
I've got BG coming to give me a quote tomorrow but have seen on these forums that they can be a big rip off, however i can't afford to replace the boiler and pay for the work upfront so have asked BG round as they allow you to pay with a payment plan.
So i was wondering if anyone knew a company in London that did Boiler replacement on a payment plan?
Thanks
Nick

Were these people the ones who could do the work too?
Been at my house just shy of 20yrs now, all that has been replaced on my boiler is the solenoid (but probably didn't need replacing) thermocouple once twice at most and the pump. When the boiler finally packs up, I don't expect to see massive if any savings from a modern low service life boiler

No they cant do it themselves. ones a DIY enthusiast and the other was a plumber.
I'm not sure what make the pump is, but is it possible to turn them down so they're not as fast?

If you use BG you will typically pay around 40% over the price for an local independent RGI.
Borrow the money elsewhere if necessary, rather than use BG's credit facilities. No free lunch, and no free laptop

BG came back at 4k. The bloke was really helpful and told me not to bother replacing it. He reckon it would last another 15 years if it was fixed correctly.0
