    Hi,

Congratulations on getting your date sorted:j If you have people travelling from abroad who will need to book flights etc, then i'd send them out so they have the best chance of getting cheap flights. We sent our's out last Feb for our wedding this Sept, obviously this was partly to do with it been in Greece but I think I would have done the same if it was here. Did our with Vista print for free:D
Married the man of my dreams - 10th September 2012, St Paul's Bay Lindos :jIt was amazing.

We did the vistaprint Magnets - they were buisness card sized & cost the same as a normal letter. We included hotel info as we had a few people travelling. I think we sent them about 8 months in advance.
To be honest, we probs would have been fine not bothering & emailing / calling the people who needed advance notice. But they were so cheap & fun.

As for matching invites etc, well we didn't have anything matchy matchy, so we didn't bother.

The most important thing to consider though is only sending them to people you will DEFINITELY be able to invite. I've seen a couple of posts on here in the past saying how they had sent out loads of Save the Dates, then had to tell loads of people that they couldn't invite them.
    Awkward.

Re your last point RainbowDrops, do you think it's ok to send them to people who may end up being invited just to the evening do?

I would say no. This is because I would assume it was the whole day (unless explicitly saying otherwise), an because I would feel a bit put out that you want me save an evening how ever far in advance, but don't want me to come to the whole day! For example I woudnt not book a holiday for an evening do, I would for a whole day.

However- I am ready to have someone disagree, this is just my opinion! :D

I have used some strange double negatives there...! I meant I would rearrange dates for a trip for a whole day wedding, but wouldn't for an evening!

I would have to say I agree with Jo. I think it is a bit much to ask someone to not make plans a year in advance only to then only invite them to the evening.

The magnets weigh 6g each so cheap postage.

We're only sending ours to the day guests, there are a couple of evening guests who have one but that is because they saw them on our fridge and asked if they could have one, but they do know they will only be evening guests... unless we have the chance to upgrade them wonce we've sent the invites out next year.

Congrats! We are also getting married that same day! I'm planning on doing save the date magnets as soon as they become free at vistaprint. Ladies, they're in my basket designed how long will it be before I get the free offer???

Ah we got married 6th April 5 years ago. I've had a few save the date cards but we didn't bother. To my mind anyone who was really important to us knew the date anyway and most guests would know you're getting married in April so if they're booking a holiday I woud have thought they'd check the date with you. If people really want to share your day they'll rearrange anything else if need be.

Hi, we've just got ours from vista print, designed 100 postcards (size of your average postcard) for free, then paid about £2.80 for 100 envelopes of the same size and postage was about £3.99, so it cost a total of about £7 for the lot. When they arrived they are really nice, much better than I imagined as I was worried bout the quality, nice glossy finish on the postcards. HTHs
