You can use hm prune puree to replace fat in baking.

Chocolate cake, ginger cake, fruit cake would be good ones to try, there are some recipes online. You could adapt this chocolate cake recipe to exclude the optional milk chocolate and just maybe top with a bit of glace icing made with cocoa powder instead.
  • I definitely echo the Prunes with Apples biz. I would soak em in Brandy and add to whatever Apple thing I was making hmmmm!

If you get bored of prunes there's always dried figs. Any fruit & veg will help, also try swapping your white bread for wholemeal, white rice for brown, white pasta for wholemeal....also make sure you are drinking enough water throughout the day.

You can also buy prune juice...I don't like the cheap supermarket ones, I find them unpleasant and watery but the premium ones are DELICIOUS, quite thick and syrupy in consistency but mmmmmmmm

Persevere with the high fibre thing, the bloating and gassiness WILL settle down when your digestive system adjusts.

Yes I have been known to soak them in calvados overnight but I thought I wouldn't mention that seeing as we are talking about healthy stuff :rotfl:

If you want to use them for baking, prunes, dates and dried figs are great if you soak them in cold black tea overnight or for a few hours, this is a particularly good tip if you are buying the cheapo dried fruit as they can sometimes be as hard as bullets.

I like to freeze them and eat them straight from the freezer.
Really strong coffee may also get the innards moving...

I love tinned prunes with yoghurt or custard!

I love prunes! I must admit that for a while I didn't but I think that was because of the tinned prunes and custard we had at school which put me off. I'd just eat them straight from the packet. Mind you I've done that before now (managing to polish off a whole 1/2 lb packet in one go) and ended up not being able to be more than a few feet from a loo the next day :o:rotfl:

Sorry, too much information. I'll shut up :)
  • I love prunes but if you need a.... ahem..... quick result, try eating a whole bar of Sainsbury's No sugar chocolate in one sitting, but beware the results are quite explosive.....so maybe half a bar would be better........... and yes I did learn that lesson all by myself :o :rotfl:
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I can recommend dried apricots as being great to get you, erm, moving! And much tastier than prunes!
