I had an op to remove my gallbladder last week but the painkillers have left things, well *ahem* not moving....
I'm eating lots of vegetables, pulses, and 2 bowls of branflakes a day; also drinking lots.
The doctor said prunes work well, so I chopped some up small and added them to my branflakes which tasted ok, but what else can I make with them? Nothing high fat please!
At the moment all this fibre is just making my bloat and burp through the day - I hate it

I made a lamb tagine last week that had prunes in it. It was really tasty. Even hubby who does not like dried fruit said it was ok! My 6 year old requested seconds of the prunes! He said they were really yummy!:D
I can let you have the recipe if you like. It was a quick cook version as tagines are traditonally slow cooked.0 -
Dandy-candy - sorry you're feeling under the weather. I remembered there's a lovely low fat chocolate pudding with prunes in Delia's "How to Cook". Tried searching Deliaonline for the recipe and so many lovely prune recipes came up I thought I'd post the link:
http://www.deliaonline.com/search.html?search_term=prunes&x=0&y=0
On the second page of the results there's a prune, date and walnut loaf - prunes and dates together would make a dynamite combination.
Another practical solution I've found is to take lactulose. Your pharmacist should have a bottle - quite cheap. It does the job very effectively without being too violent.
Hope this helps, but post again if you need more suggestions.
Good Luck

i use them in tagines with apricots and lamb and spices. could you use them as a sauce, for something like duck?

A veggie tagine would be even lower in fat than a lamb one. There's lots of recipes on the internet - I think I've done a bbcgoodfood one before.
I work with people who are on methadone and that can make people constipated and I always recommend a tomato based spicy veggie curry and have heard it works wonders!Since starting again after beanie: June 2016: Child development DVDs, Massive Attack tickets. Prunes are one of the seven wonders of the world.
If you can take booze they are great cooked with Armangnac, also Sherry, Whisky. You can cook them in Earl Grey Tea with cinnaman bark, star anise, 1 clove, they make a delicious mixture.
They are chock full of vitamins and minerals..
They are a gourmet's delight!
I hope you get some serious fun in this food wise that will lift your spirits and help solve your problems health wise.
Best of luck.x#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.

Porridge is a good high fibre breakfast as well. Oats are massively good for you and freaking tasty to boot (always important to have yumminess THEN health considerations can take their rightful place!!).
Yummy Recipes can also be healthy too!!!!#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.

A diet high in fruit and veg helps too.
Potatoes with skins on, Jacket Potato skins with stuffing hmmm, young carrots with skins, and other types of veggie and fruit very good for you as well as very tasty.#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.

I put them in a crumble with apples or pears...it's actually quite low fat, I use oats for the topping & only need a tiny bit of butter.
