Council property, neighbour from hell.

The most imprtant thing to do is to report EVERY occasion to the police - this is classed as anti social behaviour and your neighbour could be evicted for this, if there is enough evidence. They could also end up with a criminal record and / or an ASBO (yes, even at that age!)
Ask your contact at the police and at the council to be put in touch with teir ASB Manager / Officer. This is the sort of behaviour that Fiona Pilkington was subjected to by her neighbours prior to her sad decision.
You may want to google "restorative justice" - this is an option that may be offered. It's like mediation, involving both parties.
Try to keep positive and also speak to your GP about the effect this is having on you and your condition - this is also something that could be used as evidence against them in an ASB case.0 -
awww thank you all, took me a while to post on here as i thought i would be the one shot down as she is the 'sweet old lady'
My pcso is off duty for a few days and i said that was fine as i have a casual (all legal and above board with dwp) job as a stand in dinner lady, i don't know until the day if i am needed or not, so it is arranged that during the holidays next week, someone from the police will be coming to see me i guess to write a statement, thank god for my 7 page word document i made.
I know that if the police decide to seize the pc, they can retrieve deleted files. can't remember if i have said this before, i used to work with sex offenders and know how sly they can be, but also know the police can get it all back if there is anything.
I know that the old woman probably took offense to me not opening my door every 10 mins to her for a gossip on the door step, every time i heard the click click click of her walking sticks it sent dread through me.
If they have a friend who they would prefer living next door to them, but it's all changed now, housing is on the bidding system. They could have someone who is deaf and has the tv on mega loud, well apparently according to my OH i do have the tv on loud, but then i am deaf in one ear.
Been trying to find out about boundary fencing and not getting the same answers, one housing officer yesterday thinks 1.8 meters is the highest fence you can have in the back garden, where as planning expectorate says 2 meters. the same officer told me 1 meter at the front, but i am sure i have read somewhere that no fencing allowed at the front.(this is why her dog can walk over to mine and poop on my lawn) drives my dog mad.0 -
Op I have read your thread and the situation sounds awful.
In respect to the fencing, as long as the fence in the rear garden face onto onto other gardens and not a road then you can put up a fence up to 2m high without planning permission.
At the front, as it faces a road you can put up a fence up to 1m high. Howeverbut you should check with your local planning office to see if the permitted development rights for fencing in the front garden have been removed. If they have then you will need planning permission for a fence.
If you are in touch with your Housing Officer see if they can look into this for you, maybe even look into getting them to instal a fence given the major problems you are having with one of their tenants - maybe they won't help but worth asking!0 -
Oh dear Mupette, you have my sympathies - have experienced anti-soc myself, but it was so bad and nothing was done that we ended up moving.
Keep up with the Police calls whenever either of them kick off, and make sure you ask if the call has been combined into the initial log number.
Have the anti-soc department told you to keep making logs of anything that occurs?
As for them filming you...deffo sounds like they were thinking of collecting evidence to report you for not having MS and being able bodied.
Bet they read the Daily Mail and watch Jeremy Kyle. :rotfl:Stone walls do not a prison make, nor iron bars a cage.0 -
The police and the council can and should act forcefully in this situation. There are clear breaches of the law (both criminal and civil), and of the tenancy agreement.
Remind both the police and the council of recent cases where neither have acted in time to prevent suicides by disabled people who have been persecuted like this.
You could contact your MP too. The prospect of bad publicity always tends to focus their minds."Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0 -
I would agree with the poster who suggested mediation, but now that the police are involved it is probably too late.
The neighbour's behaviour is wholly unacceptable, but if you were to speak to them you would probably find they have some grievances which could have been resolved by negotiation. From their perspective, you moved in and took the parking space they thought they owned without any discussion with them, you refused to open your door to discuss problems with the old lady, but collared her in the street one day and shouted the odds at her, you play your TV loudly and cause a noise nuisance and have erected high fencing in your back garden which could be blocking their light. All of this could be one huge misunderstanding made a lot worse by lack of communication and leading to them boiling over in frustration and doing what they can to force what they see as a problem neighbour out.
As I say, there behaviour is not right, but if this is going to go any further, particular in relation to involving the council, you might need to think about your own role in the dispute and get your own house in order in advance.0
