There's some advice on how to do this at http://www.tuneclone.com/how-to-make-free-iphone-ringtones-with-itunes9.php

I've created loads of my own ringtones and alert tones and added them to my iPhone. If you have more problems, post back here and I'll try to help.

This is a great ringtone converter i have been using it for a while now its so easy to use and it even puts it in your iPhone directory on your computer so all you have to do is go into iTunes and sync to your phone its only a small program to download.

On the left side in iTunes Click Devices tones and then sync from there

After you done that Goto iPhone settings sound and choose the tones for ring, text and so on.

  • I am planning to spend out on Professional Ringtones as they seem the best of bunch but if there was a way to make own Ringtone and get in phone correctly.
I would just surrender and get appropriate Ringtones.

Just set it to Old Phone, everyone else does. It's quite funny when an iPhone rings on a crowded train, you'll see loads of people reaching for their phone to see if that was the one that rang!

    Hi
I downloaded the app Ringtones with an orange quaver ( i think it is,some note or other) on the front and if I can do it anyone can!! It includes a video clip of how to get your favourite song as a ringtone. Just follow their instructions. Good luck.

Weill thanks for all the replies but I have finally had it with trying to make a free ringtone.
I have tried all your suggestions but no good, I have plenty within itunes but cannot get them to my phone, the only thing that I have spotted is that in itunes there is a tab for tones and not ringtones, don't know if thats any thing to do with it?
    Thanks anyway,

It is indeed the Tones tab. What file format are your ringtones? They should be M4R. If you've added them to your iTunes library, they should be synced to your iPhone.
