Yes, they can do this. It is their property that they are selling so they can attach whatever strings they like or even refuse to serve you entirely. You have no legal right to force them to sell you anything at any price.Thinking critically since 1996....0

Don't be silly.I was trying to order dinner tonight from SZS Chicken and Pizza via hungry house and there is a new restriction on the site which stop you placing an order unless you order something from their "meals" section. however what I wanted to order (the order being spare ribs and chips) wasn't available as "meal" and had to order it separately and even though that was all I wanted I was forced to order something I didn't actually want is this allowed?
I complained to hungry house and they didnt seem to care they just said "yes the manager confirms you need to order something from the Meals menu" so no matter what one orders not matter the total even if it is over £100 they force you to buy a "meal" before allowing you to place an order!
does anyone have any advice on who can report this too as I don't appreciate being "bullied" in to buying something I dont want
No bullying here. No-one's forcing you to do anything.
Buy you dinner somewhere else.0 -
but yet they can use this "forceful selling" technique?0

I am not being silly and you saying I am I find offensive.
yes I can buy dinner somewhere else yet if you wanted something from amazon, for example, you would find it acceptable to only be allowed to purchase your items if you also bought a a pink tutu?0 -
Rest assured, if I wanted to be offensive I would've used a different word to 'silly'.I am not being silly and you saying I am I find offensive.
Fell free to report my post if you like.
Since you ask the question...yes I can buy dinner somewhere else yet if you wanted something from amazon, for example, you would find it acceptable to only be allowed to purchase your items if you also bought a a pink tutu?
If Amazon insisted I buy a pink tutu at any time when I did not want to buy one, I would look for a better deal elsewhere.
Pretty much what I, and others, have suggested you should do.
Please explain where the forceful selling is?but yet they can use this "forceful selling" technique?0 -

They have the right to ask you to buy "a goat" to get your order delivered - delivery is a service they can administer as they see fit
Under what/which theory of consumer law do you expect to find 'right to delivery'?????When will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?0 -

As crazy as it may seem, you are under no obligation to do business with them just as they are under no obligation to do business with you.
You can offer to buy 2 separate dishes, they can refuse.
They can offer you those 2 dishes and a meal, you can refuse.
You may not like it, but unfortunately thats how it is.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

you're not being bullied to buy anything.
the end-provider are running a business, for which they pay hungry-house (for that matter, just-eat, etc) intermediaries a cut of the order. it's more efficient if the order has a certain value, and meal-deals are better to process than specific orders.
you may find that if you phoned the take-away directly you will get what you want, as then the end-provider isn't giving away 10% to hungry-house.0
