Slow internet after power cut ?

Hi,

On Wed I had a power cut from 1.30pm until 9.30pm internet was working great prior to this.

Ever since it's come back on it has been ridiculously slow - I have tried doing a speed test and it's been doing it for 10 mins now with no results yet. Pages also keep crashing.

I have tried unplugging the router from the wall and leaving off for 10mins then restarting, I have tried resetting it and putting the password back in and it's still as slow as ever.

If I go onto the routers page in system log it says sending inform message then inform fail over and over again. (The router is a siemens SE572) I have 2 laptops and a PS3 that connect to it.

Is there anything else I can try - or do I need to get on the phone to Orange?

Any help or advice is appreciated :)

Could be just re-training on your profile, but I have no knowledge of Orange and how they work, have they got their own forum ? it may be worth checking there if they have.

log in to your router and find the line stats, i.e. connection speed up/down, line attenuation up/down, and signal to noise margin up/down, from that info we can advise better.

Also, regarding the router log error message, if you look closer you may find all those events happened within a minute or so of each other as the router was re-syncing to the exchange....let us know :)

p.s. try your number in here, it may give a clue if there's something going on at your exchange......

It seems to be working ok at the moment but there is only one laptop connecting to it. However the error message is still appearing. I have searched for an Orange Forum and can't find one - there used to be one just about problems but it is no longer working.

I will see how it works later when we try to connect the other laptop up to it. I am just dreading ringing orange as they will just make me reset the router etc etc and they never listen to what the actual problem is.

I checked on my exchange on that link that was posted and there didn't seem to be any problems (although I did see a BT van there yesterday)

I have the same error message all the time, been there for 2 years, don't know what it is and cant seem to find out ;)

Your 3008 / 352 kbps is quite low for modern connections, were you getting any higher before, mine is 6688 down / 448 up.
