Park the car up and walk. If you don't have the money to maintain it properly then its not fit to be on the road putting everyone else at risk.
It obviously never sees a garage from one MOT to the next otherwise the brakes would have been picked up long before they got this low.
£250-£300 should see both front and rear brakes done including new discs/pads/shoes/drums.0 -

I'd have thought around the £150 mark for new discs and pads fitted.Unless the bearings are in the discs then it would be likely be more.0

Self sourced is around £80-£1000 -

So you think its fine having other vehicles around you doing 60MPH with no brakes and bald tyres?
If I had my way, I'd ban all the teflon tyres as well. There is a massive difference in stopping distances between the good and bad tyres.0 -

Ops brakes have worn and need replacing, hence why ops here. That doesn't necessarily mean they are dangerous or has no breaks! Nor has op mentioned tyres.
Op has though said she/he is skint, not poor, skint. Perhaps overspent this month or had a lot of expenses come out at once. Happens to us all, yet you are suddenly saying how op shouldn't have a vehicle!
You're making some very poor assumptions here!0 -
Thanks to everyone who constructively posted on this thread. Notmyrealname, perhaps you shouldn't reply to threads if you have nothing constructive to say, you seem to draw your own conclusions on a completely wrong basis. At no point did i even mention tyres
so for info for everyone else, I have just had the car back and paid £125.68
