samsung 16gb tablet or other tablet

I have recently seen a good offer on the Samsung Tablet but am aware that it does not comer with a memory slot so can not use any more memory.

I also looked at the Sony 16gb wifi tablet for 299 and comparable to the Samsung on paper but look like no camera!

Can anyone help me as I really do not know much about these.

Also, can I print from this and produce documents/coursework.

Thanks

It depends if you are after size or functionality. My Acer Iconia has a lot of connectivity, including a Micro SD slot and USB (not fully functional yet, but can read off a stick). It can be a little clunky, size wise, but is worth a look

You can get it a lot cheaper than they say on there too.

You can produce coursework but seriously, if you're going to do any amount of typing you don't want to be doing it on a tablet unless you buy a dock with a keyboard.

Thanks for your advice. I am not really looking at doing large amount of writing on it. Just would like the ability top use windows or equivalent and write a few letters if needed if my computer if not functional.

No problem. I would add that the 16GB Ipad 2 is now £299-£329 and its better than pretty much most Android based ones just on functionality alone.

Will I have any problems though due to not being able to add memory?

    We've the Asus transformer.
    It's excellent.
The virtual keyboard is good, the docking station is excellent.
If you don't like the thought of using just the screen, it also recognises a usb keyboard.
It's android based op system doen't use word, but it's compatible.
    It doesn't print directly though.
We haven't found any supported printers. A lot support photo printing, using android phone apps, but no document printer driver. It's normally a case of putting the documents into word on the desktop, and printing from there.
Memory has been fine for everything.

Had a look at this but looks like it is about £400-500 so out of my budget.

It's dear, but if you like the samsung, I wouldn't let the leyboard or the none windows os put you off.
  • You can buy card reader adapters for the samsung - I got a card reader and a usb adapter for about £15. I use my tablet for all my uni coursebooks as I have them on pdf, so have just saved them on a memory card, and I can just plug it in and I dont impact the tablets memory.

It depends what you are going to use it for. What do you plan to store on it?
I've got 48GB of storage used on mine, but that's because I have loads of apps installed, mainly games - quick guesstimate, 250. If you're not going to have loads of apps installed at the same time less storage would probably be fine.
