how do you get the cheap ones, as it only shows up as reg price

That's the point of a promotion like this....word of mouth & forums such as these perpetuate it!

Everyone dives on RyainAir's website in the hope of a 'free seat' - surprise, surprise you can't get one (it's amazing where 1 million free seats have gone eh?) & I guess their hope is that you'll think "hey, those seat prices aren't so bad...I think I'll go ahead & book one anyway".

    Despise Ryanair....it's good for you!
  • Well, I personally want to thank the OP, rather than get into a debate about the pro's and con's of Ryanair...

They were only trying to help and advise of a potential bargain after all...(albeit a DFS/MFI style one! :D)

Can see both sides of the argument - I was looking earlier and the taxes are a pain in the arris, but for me it still works out cheaper than using a different carrier, and I have never had a prob with Ryanair TBH. Apart from their new baggage charge...

Perhaps I'm just lucky so far, cos I know of plenty who are dissatisfed though.

But please don't pounce on the OP who was only (AFAIK) posting in good faith. :)

About time too. RyanAir have been getting away with this deceitful practice for too long. They know what the taxes and other add ons are, so they should be honest and up front.

Just think what a mess we'd all be in if everytime we bought something and got to the till a large dollop of tax and surcharges where heaped on. May as well see the petrol companies advertising unleaded at 12p per litre and when we have filled up get we get hit by the cashier for another 75p per litre tax and duty etc!!!

Off-topic, sorry - I'm just on way home from a fortnight spent in the US, which reminded me of their (to me) crazy habit of doing just that; sales tax (their VAT equivalent) is not displayed anywhere but just levied at the till, so it's impossible to know exactly what the cost is without a firm grip on the maths.

Bargainaholic, thanks, but I bet you wonder why you bother sometimes.

Some people just dont think it through.

A 1p flight will have variable charges added depending what airport they are flying from or to.

Is it really so hard for people to work out, that a 1p flight is going to cost aprox £20 from the Uk, normally less To the UK, as most other governments dont tax air travel so high.

Instead of blaming airlines, asking them to absorb /hide tax, I think its good that we can see how much we are getting taxed compared to other countries
  • Wouldn't fly ryanair if my life depended on it -but that's just me:silenced: :D

Anyone that can fly you to Spain and back for £34 including taxes
    deserves a medal.
It costs more than that to get the train to London from where I live(about 70 miles)

15th May from Stansted Airport is 1p + Taxes (Approx. £25 total)

This is for a 1 way flight from Stansted

**Please note that the return flights seem to start at around £29 + Taxes***

Not sure where you are flying from or whether you require a return flight but hope this info helps.
