I feel in addition to your post regarding booking periods etc it should also mention these flights are far from free, you still have pay taxes etc.

Ryanair offering "free" or penny flights are about as common as dfs or mfi having a sale

    all the best

Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right
  • I hear what you're saying, but this isn't posted on the Freebies board. Taxes etc are an unfortunate part of everyday life and are payable whether the seat is "free" or not.

I'm merely trying to alert people that there might be savings to be had on regular flight prices. As every good MSE'r knows you should look around and check you've got the best deal before booking.
  • a trip just to london from glasgow is going to cost £120, so not exactly free

though i did manage to get a flight for 1p, with no taxes, from them before!

Thankfully this crap is going to be finished soon. Trading standards have just issued a decree to the Airline companies that they must now publish everything on the advertised price (taxes, full surcharges etc). I think they have a couple of months grace to get their house in order...then the can be taken to task for it.

  • flights i searched for came to just under £80 after taxes (for 2 people)

flights were just 1p....rest taxed etc !!!!

    maybe not

About time too. RyanAir have been getting away with this deceitful practice for too long. They know what the taxes and other add ons are, so they should be honest and up front.

Just think what a mess we'd all be in if everytime we bought something and got to the till a large dollop of tax and surcharges where heaped on. May as well see the petrol companies advertising unleaded at 12p per litre and when we have filled up get we get hit by the cashier for another 75p per litre tax and duty etc!!!
  • Do people still fall for this ploy?

These so called free seats exhaust me.....please leave it out.
