  • Sometimes it is a con because people create false accounts up up the bids on their items.

sorry, i meant to press 'quote' not 'thanks' - lol! but 'thanks' anyway :)

but this is not unique to second chance auctions tho, is it? its just as common for people to bump up the price on regular auctions, cos this is a regular auction after all?? You just been offered the 'duplicate stock item' I see where your coming from as in there was only ever one product but think it is just as likely to occur where the seller bids up their own auction and then you end up winning it... the way I see it if you bid on an auction and was happy to pay the price if you won the auction then its not really ant different, just sometimes it means you can bag a bargain!! :)

I'm not sure shill bidding is that common really, if a seller is doing it a lot it is very easy to pick up and it is one thing that ebay do seem to act on when it gets reported.

There was was an incident of shill bidding mentioned on here a couple of months back and if I recall correctly several of us reported it and both accounts were NARU within a day.

If I have 2 items exactly the same I only ever list 1 in the hope that 2 or more people are interested

This happened not so long ago when 2 people bid my item from £9.99 to £17.50 .... I offered the under bidder the other item which they took at £16.50 .... obviously if I had put 2 items on at £9.99 common sense tells you that you will more than likely get 1 bid on each

Thats what i am afraid of a .......as a buyer! I would far rather buy it at £9.99 ! Does the fact that I have been offered a 2nd chance offer mean that I am bidding too high anyway!

????? but if you bid £16.50 and you were prepared to pay £16.50 but lost out to someone else then why aren't you pleased with this deal?????

Is it just me who doesn't understand why people bid yet aren't happy with the price they have bid? I'm sorry i'm confused.... Its a second chance to win something that you wanted???
