Cost of puncture repair?

Had a puncture repaired a few weeks ago and had to ring around 5 or 6 places to find one that did it for a decent price - I got it for £12 in the end, but loads of places, including small independent garages, wanted £18-£20.
One place quoted a tenner and were open till 6pm, but when I got there after work around 5:30ish they'd already packed up and gone home.0
