What say do current tenants have in new tenant?

Though I understand the legal implications, I would simply inform the landlord that the girls had refused to meet with prospective tenants and that you would not be paying any more rent.
In real life, they will chip in together and then find another tenant.
Your deposit is another question. You will probably lose that.0 -

My son had a similar problem in his first year. He shared with 3 others and after 3 months 2 of them moved out (dropped out of Uni). The LL found 2 replacements and drew up a contract for the 2 who moved out to sub let, so the new T's paid rent to the 2 who moved out who then paid the LL. My son and the other orig T did not have much say in the matter of the new tenants. Subsequently one of the replacement T's went missing for the last 2 months of the contract and the original T had to pay.0
