LIDL has got bakery NOW!!!! Fantastic Croissants!

My local Lidl has had a bakery section for about 4 weeks now. It has brought many more shoppers into the store & whenever I'm queueing I notice almost every person has something from the bakery.
When the bakery first opened, they sold lovely delicious brown crusty rolls, but haven't had any of these for a good week or so now. Also, it seems that the bakery baskets are not being stocked up enough to cope with demand.
Sometimes I go in to find there is no french bread, or perhaps a particular style of loaf or roll. I really just wondered if this kind of falling by the wayside has happened in any other Lidl store?
Because Lidl don't have masses of staff, it's not as if you can usually find anybody on the shop floor to ask. And although once I did ask the girl who seems to man the bakery area about the brown crusty rolls on the first day they didn't have them in stock, she always seems to look flustered & just said 'no we haven't got any', so I'm wondering if they are never to be stocked again now & thought I'd ask here to see if other stores still do them or not.The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
My local Lidl also has a bakery section that is "certainly uncontaminated by" bread (to misquote the Monty Python cheese shop sketch).
I suspect that they're having trouble adjusting to the concept of having the same things in stock for more than a week at a time.If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?

Funny you should mention this because I went to a Lidl today that I don't normally go to. For some reason I have 2 nearby. 1 is on the way to other shops, the one I went to today isn't but I decided to go there.
As soon as I stepped in I smelt fresh bread. I was in a rush so didn't go and find the bakery section. 3 people in the queue had a bag from the bakery.
What are the prices like? ie a loaf of crusty bread.Dave Ramsey Fan[/COLOR]0 -
My nearest Lidl has been refurbished and now has a bakery. It's the first area you walk into on the shop, so is unavoidable. Live bakery products so it has been tough walking straight past it- on the other hand, its hard to get anywhere near it as everyone seems to be in a mad rush to fill their bags with fresh goodies!Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Ours got the bakery about six months ago - and I visit my store (1 minute away) nearly every day.
The first batch is the biggest this comes out around opening time either just before or just after its put in by the normal shop floor staff on a rota then(it rings loud when done until someone releases it) then they do three or four batches during the day this is the more popular stuff -cinamon bread - french sticks ect its pretty random especially on days when stocking up for the big sale days - eg friday getting ready for saturday.
Ours is very popular and everyones getting uesd to second guessing the times or we just go early like we used to in the old days lol.Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives.:j0 -
I've seen staff stocking the bakery in ours it all looked like part baked frozen to me.0

It's because the staff who do the baking are also on the tills. Thursday is the worst day for mine as that's the day they're most short staffed. She gets in early, gets loads made, then from 11oclock onwards is on the till and can only get back to the bakery if it's quiet. Which on a Thursday it generally isn't. So if I want my triple choc cookies I have to get my bum in gear early.
They're finding it hard work in a quite confined spaces.
The prices are cheaper than tesco, for what I buy.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
What are the prices like? ie a loaf of crusty bread.
Prices are excellent, ordinary crusty rolls 15p each, lovely seedy ones at 29p each, small baguette a bargain 15p ( 69p next door in M&S!) & various loaves of different bread average price of 69p-79p. Everything I've had from there has been delicious & still lovely & fresh next day (on the rare occasions any is left for the following day!)
I've only bought cakes from the bakery section once so far, lovely, but am sworn off of cakes, sweets & other goodies as need to lose a few lb's (or kilo's for the younger folk out there).
PLRFD- the bread is part baked frozen, which is exactly how most shops get it in, including supermarkets with a bakery section. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
It looked a good idea in our local one but it often seems half empty. Don't usually get there until late morning or in the evening which is a shame.0

My closest Lidls both have the bakery and I've found it's best to go in as soon as it opens. However, I went in a Lidl I don't normally go in today that is just getting the bakery and they have a huge oven section behind all the racks. My usual branches just have a small square enclosed oven next to the racks.0
