we don't have it in any of our stores
Ours neither. But if you are lucky enough to have a JJ Foods close by, they pretty much sell frozen croissants and all manner of bakery goods - you don't even need a trade account at weekends when they open to the public.

Unfortunately most in-store goods tend to be mass produced and frozen in part baked form. If you want a decent croissant, then find an old fashioned craftsman baker on the highstreet, where they make them by hand using French Flour and butter, yes you pay for the difference, but you can also taste it too.

It just shows how much mass production has dulled our taste buds when we readily refer to a mass produced supermarket item, frozen and proven 'days' ago as 'nice'!

The local Lidl has also now got a bakery...

...however in the lay-out change they have cut the "non-food" items section in half.

    Hi lily,

As your thread has dropped down the Old Style board I've moved it over to the Grocery Shopping board where more people may see your recommendation.

Wow, we finally got a Lidl bakery today! I wouldn't mind if I lived in the sticks but it's a London suburb, so they have taken quite a while to hit this spot of the country.

Everything looks very delicious, & very cheap & they were doing a roaring trade. I'd already picked up some stuff from Sainsbury's bakery dept. so didn't buy from Lidl's selection today, but will definitely pick something up from there tomorrow.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
