Has your region undergone digital switchover yet if? If so, you won't be getting the 5 original analogue channels.
But I suspect not, and that you have switched the source over to Analogue from DTV. What options come up under 'source'?
Worst case is that the digital tuner has failed and that you are only getting the analalogue channels-which is why you need to advise your region. Getting decent DTV reception on an indoor aerial is not common.

Thanks - I live in London. When I switch the "source" options on my handset, all that comes up is 1 - 3 then HDM1 then HDM2 then PC. There is nothing that says DTV, analogue, etc......

Nope, aerial hasn't changed at all. it is a plug-in portable aerial, I have always used this and it has been spot-on for many years.

So it would appear that all you can now get are the analogue channels, since London has not yet switched.
Aerial fault or tuner failure is my guess-but the former would not prevent the TV from displaying the DTV option.
Which 'source' input are you using to display the 5 channels you can receive? They must be analogue, because the chance of you losing all the digital channels except those 5 is simply not credible.
Can I suggest that you borrow a Freeview box and plug that into your set-if it will display Freeview OK, then my tuner theory is correct.

When on BBC1 or BBC2 does the red button work as expected? If so, that would indicate that they're digital rather than analogue.

Have you got a channel list or EPG button on your remote, or some way of listing the channels. Using that might help you switch from analogue to digital.

OMG. Thank you so much. It was exactly that...... Whilst feeling like a complete technophobe idiot, I am very grateful there isn't a major problem....... and I have learned something new about what that button does....

    Thank you again.
