Where have ALL my freeview digital channels vanished to?

Hi and thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

I have a Toshiba TV with built-in Freeview. However, it has just converted itself to only accessing BBC 1 & 2, ITV, Ch 4 & Ch 5. No digital Freeview at all! I have always been able to access Freeview on it no problems at all, so am confused....

I have tried a full auto-retune a couple of times but it only picks up these 5 channels, it's just like Freeview has never existed on it! It has a plug-in portable aerial - but I can't understand why this would have anything to do with it as i have used it without fail for a few years now, always a good picture quality and full access to all digi channels!

Anyone have any suggestions on what to do?

My toshiba tv remote control has a button on it called a source button. Its a complete circle with an arrow part way thru the circle pointing right. If I press that it gives me different sources for my tv starting with DTV first, (digital TV), then source 1,2,3. Source 2 is my DVD player, then HDMI1, HDMI2. If you have a source button then try that as it should show you DTV. Good luck!

Ah OK, not old enough to be the problem I was thinking of then.

I tried google - and typed in your model and the word ' troubleshooting' and it came up with a few sites to look at including 'ask toshiba'. Its not anything to do with the digital switchover in your area is it - maybe look at the freeview website. Apologies if that's as stupid comment as I'm no expert but thats what I did when I had a problem.

If your TV is less than 6 years old you may have rights for a replacement under sale of good act for selling you a non-compliant item from your original retailer- not the manufacture.

IF not you will unfortunately need a set top box or replace the TV

It could be that atmospheric conditions are affecting your signal, especially if you only have a portable aerial, as they do not give the level of signal a true external aerial would give. A high pressure area to the east of the UK often causes problems with signals.

Under really special conditions I have received Belgium TV in full colour some years ago, the signals interfering with normal signals.

It could well be that when the high pressure conditions change, you could be back to normal.

Thanks so much to all for your replies. The fact the channels have completely vanished - like, literally, they never existed, yet channels 1-5 are perfect, makes me think I may have somehow changed it to analogue from digital like a poster said a few replies ago...... does anyone have more info on this, how this may have happened and what to do? I am so sorry, I simply don't have a clue, and the idea of having no choice but to watch Dancing on Ice and the like tonight is filling me with dread.... :(
