2 questions! Tax Free on Ops and Ipads!

Hey all,

I am currently on Ops in Afghanistan and as a gift to myself for 6 months of XXXX - i am planning on buying an Ipad. However, as a MSE, i am looking at the best possible way to purchase!

Amazon currently offer tax free on these purchases but set a limit on how much spent ie they won't ship the Ipad out here. Does anyone know any companies that offer tax free to those on Ops?

Can anyone recommend the best place to get the new Ipad?

Hi

Amazon will refund VAT if the BFPO is outside the EU. What you have to do is buy it at full price, await it being confirmed as dispacthced and then email Amazon.

They will automatically refund the VAT back to your account.

Amazon wont send expensive items to BFPO addresses, due to the amount of items missing.

I would of thought if your at one of the MOB's, you could get the american FPO address and contact Apple USA.

I assume your after the iPad 2.? As the iPad 1 can be purchased for under £300 now in the UK.

Apart from that, i would recommend posting on the usual places (e-goat etc).

Hi,

I sent an ipad out to a relative using LaptopsDirect; called them rather than doing it via the internet and they knocked the VAT off. There is a rather hefty delivery fee of £25 but the saving on VAT was much larger so it was worth it.

Not good news. I am off on HERRICK and was hoping to do the same regarding VAT free pressies.

Going to Apple directly may help as we also get a discount for being forces. They may know how to do it without VAT?

Personally if i were you id wait till im back on RnR or even POTL as a laptop keeps me happy and you cant even use the 3G out here.

I don't want to use it out here - i want to get it sent out here so i can get it tax free and use it back in the uk
