Credit Card transfer to Bank Account

Hi

I hope someone can help me. A friend has transferred money from marks and spencer credit card to my bank account but it has not yet arrived. I don't think she said it was a bank account either. Please, please, please, tell me that this money is retrievable somehow? It was transferred 14 March.

Thanks

a credit card holder cannot pay funds directly into your account and there is no m&s current account so it does not make sense.

think you need to chase your friend here to clarify...

As I know mark and spenser has no rights to issue cards, it is allowed to banks only.

I may be wrong but I doubt that M+S credit card would allow a balance transfer or cash advance to a third party bank account. Are you quite sure about this?

As to whether the money is retrievable or not, your friend will first have to check with M+S credit card that this payment has left her account and, in the event that it has, ask M+S credit card to put a trace on the funds.

But this is all somewhat odd. Obviously I don't know your friend but have you considered that this may all be an excuse on her part not to pay or to delay paying?

May need to check with M&S. In the past it may have taken upto 10 working days, which is still yet to pass.

Did the friend state the sort code and account number when requesting the transfer? or did he/she input the PAN (Long 16 digits).

The PAN number will not work IMO.
  • Thanks for your information everyone. I will check with her. I gave her the 16 digit number. I hope M&S can trace the funds!

It should have bounced back to M&S then - phone them to see if they can find it and get it back on your card.

If its going to your current account you would have had to give her a sort code and account number.

If you've given her the sixteen digit number from your debit card then this wouldn't have gone through, and will have not been able to have been processed by M&S Cards.

    I don't think so.

What method did she use to perform this magical act? What online tool or mechanism would allow you to enter bank account details (let alone a 16 digit PAN) and pay funds into it using a credit card?

As Ben suggests, I wonder if your friend is spinning you a porkie to delay paying you? :(
