Truly tiny doorway & buying a sofa.

We really need a new t too expensive) sofa, as our current one (a metal framed sofa-bed with futon mattress) is causing me pains, but we have a truly tiny door frame to deal with.
Basically we can get everything into the house through the window, but it's a 2 bed terrace with a filled in staircase i.e 2 door frames between the reception rooms, and one of the door frames is only 26" wide. We can't remove the door frame at all, so I wondered if anyone had any advice or ideas.
When we first moved in we had a pair of sofas, and never did manage to fit the 3 seater through the doorway into the lounge, so we had to make do with the 2 seater, and make space for the 3 seater in the front (dining) room, till we finally gave it away!

A waist is a terrible thing to mind.

We have the same issue. The hallway from the front door is narrow and then turns sharply into the living room. MY BF works as in removals and is pretty good at manipulating furniture through small gaps but after numerous attempts we have to give away all our sofas.
We bought a pair of the Ikea flat pack Sofas (Ektorp) - not the perfect squishy leather sofas i wanted but cheap enough are reasonably comfy to sit on and the covers changable.
They fitted in the back of the car and easily through the doorway.I'm so boring, my clothes wanna keep someone else warm, someone cooler0 -
Thanks. Flat pack sounds like a great idea, my only concern is how hard wearing/durable they are, as it would get a lot of use with heavy bums on it, and I do like to "lounge" on the sofa (even though I know it's not good for my posture) once I've drowned it in cushions and blankets that is!
*edited, I've just found the construction materials list and I just can't see how particleboard and plastic legs will be strong enough.
I know what you mean about not being able to have your ideal sofa - I would love a recliner - I'm threatening to buy just 1 recliner chair and hubby can sit on the floor! lolA waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -
Google Nabru sofas, look pretty good, send out fabric samples and WILL fit! oh and quidco too!!

Thanks I found them at about 2am and went to bed with very tired eyes - they seem to have lots of great options (already requested my fabric samples). Also saw on their fb that they've been used on the channel 4 show "You deserve this house" and by a hotel in Gurnsey.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0

some manufacturers offer sofas that can be dismantled. Multiyork is definitely one: my poor hubby has taken them apart & put them together again about 5 times in the last year after all of our moves/house renovation !"Science is a wonderful thing if one does not have to earn one's living at it" Einstein 19510

Sometimes its the only way to remove the window, its isn't a difficult job from what I hear0

Yeah, window removal is the best way if possible. My friend has done this a few times. First time he got someone out to do it however when he see how easy it was he had go and it went ok.0

a lot of recliners split in half.
the backs just slide into two slots/brackets.Get some gorm.0 -
You could look at a wooden framed one like an Ercol sofa where the cushions are removable, and there is not much to the frame itself.0
