Help,
My ex got my a mobile phone. He wasn't my ex at the time. It was wit O2 and was a to year contract. I paid direct debit each month to O2. One month I was struggling and kept checking my bank balance before hoping. I got a £400 bill in. I called and checked the bill. They would not giv me the info as I wasn't th account holder. I asked if I could make a payment plan, they cut me off. The debt went to. Debt collection agent. I have cleared the debt. Th phone isn't reconnected and still has 20 months left on contract. 02 won't discuss reconnection with me and my ex won't help. He isn't being horrible, he just said that I need to sort it out. I need a mobile phone but don't want to start a new contract with another company if I (or ex ) is still responsible for 02 contract. O2 have not responded to any requests I hav made o reconnect th phone nor have the connected my ex, what should I do please

Get a pay as you go! If the phone is in his name then it's his responsibility

It is absolutely unclear what this £400 bill was for.
However, I think normally the debt goes to debt collectors only if the contract gets terminated. So, my guess would be that there is no any contract any more.

Also, your ex is either naive or doesn't care about their credit history. The default was almost definitely reported to the CRA(s) and will remain in the credit file(s) for 6 years.
