Can traffic warden call the police / clampers

Options
Hello there,

and apologies if this question doesn't fit the category, but I couldn't find one more accurate.

When two years ago I was still renting, as the previous tenant left a lot of debt, quite a few times distrainers have come to look for him or asking for some information.

Now if you wonder what the above may fit with transportation, please read below.

Everyday I now commute and work in London, where there are so many traffic warden that goes around with their GSM terminal to issue fine for irrespecutful people, which ignore the restriction or doesn't pay their parking.

Let's assume that the above guy, the one that didn't pay, has a car and he didn't change his name. Would that be possible for the traffic warden to see on his terminal that the car belongs to a person which own money to the government / some people and for this reason call the parking enforcement guys to clamp the car or call the police?

Similar question, pretending no guilty guy like the one above described, but still bad because he didn't pay the insurance or a lot of parking fine. Can the traffic warden call the clampers or the police?

Best

The Traffic Warden would only see the vehicle details AT THE MOMENT.

Enforcement of bad debts and no insurance is a different department. The Police can find uninsured cars simply by the registration plate being picked up by the in car ANPR. Likewise in London there are vans equipped with ANPR that just drive around reading parked car numberplates. Both can seize the car.
  • Thanks for the answer.

What ANPR stands for? Is this a portable computer?

When you see that Traffic Warden can see real time data, what does this mean? How could this affect the bad driver? I mean, do they store the plate and check the parking time up to a specific moment? Do they have a record of precedent not paid parking ticket?
Can you please make an example to clarify me this?

  • I'm not definitely interested into this. I've been going around internet since 1994 ... so I have a "tiny" knowledge of the net and it's rule.

    Having said this.

I've been generic, because I'm new in the UK and I'm trying to understand how things work, which inevitably take me in the bad position to be vague because I don't know how better to say or ask.

I swear u won't see a damn link from me, even on the sign, if this can make you more comfortable and happy on this friday :)

I have my reading between the lines glasses on.

The OP seems to be saying....

" I have lots of debt and collectors keep chasing me, I give them a different names to put them off the scent.

Will changing my name on the V5 put them off chasing me?

If it put my car in someone elses name will it be less likely to get towed or clamped especially as i dont like paying for parking, tax, mot's or insurance?
    "

Fixed camera's and mobile camera's read the cars registration and ping up when you drive past or they drive past.
They know if its registered properly, You have tax, insurance, mot etc.

If its not they tow it away and send you fines. When they catch you they will send you on holiday with crappy food and no windows.

ANPR is Automatic Number Plate Recognition. It is an onboard computer that can read the numberplate and is instantly able to get registration, tax, MOT and insurance status from DVLA.

The wardens on the street giving out parking tickets don't have a record of unpaid tickets. When you don't pay a parking ticket it eventually goes to court. After that then court enforcement officers, bailiffs, can clamp the car and seize it until you pay the outstanding amounts. They also add their own charges on to the original ticket when they do this. The bailiffs have ANPR too.

I think this thread should be boycotted.

For all we know the op who is clearly foreign could be a terrorist thinking about using a vehicle for his evil deeds. All seems a bit iffy to me.

While I know the answers the op is seeking (I've worked in parking for years) I smell a rat here so I'm keeping my gob shut.

OP, do you mean that the previous tenant caused you a lot of hassle and you know where he parks his car, so you're thinking to point a traffic warden in his direction if it would help everyone track him down?
