Official facebook line on this is to tell them to take a hike

The discrimination idea is interesting, could that apply in the UK as well?0 -
What is the big deal, as long as you look for work make your FB account invisible in searches. If they type in your name they will not find it and assume you got nothing. You will still be able to talk to all your friends (unless you are a friend collector) and look for new one's.0

This post if about someone asking you to give them your log in which a lot of people on here suggest you should do to get a job or you do not want one.0 -
I think Facebook will be getting worried if this is a genuine trend - if employers start asking for Facebook passwords, after a while people will leave Facebook and move on to the next social networking site ... could be very damaging for them commercially.0

i use a different name for work than I do on FB so they wouldnt find me anyway. If my boss suddenly demanded my FB login (tbh that wouldnt actually surprise me) I'd tell her to take a hike and ask what hers was as allegedly she's on FB... My FB is private and I certainly dont want her nosing in it as theres a lot of er....
stuff on there :rotfl:

That's assuming as I said before that the story is true. After all, newspapers always tell they truth don't they. Especially American ones.
But after a while everyone will move on anyway. It's the nature of social media. There is always something new.0 -
I wasn't aware of making the page invisible? I know you can make it private ie: they only can see your photo and name. How do you set the page to invisible then?

You can make your profile 'invisible' in searches by changes the settings to:
Privacy settings > How you connect > Who can look up your timeline > set to either 'Friends' or 'Friends of Friends' (depending on what you prefer)
It doesn't hide your profile though, just stops it appearing in a search unless you are friends with the person (or friend of a friend).
Another thing to watch is how many other apps you use (games etc) as these all make your name 'public', except in the search if the above settings are applied.
I guess it just depends how much someone wants to try and find you :eek:0 -

How you connect- Who can send you friend requests?
- Who can send you Facebook messages?
