If I was asked I wouldn't be able to tell them because I choose all random passwords and store them in a password manager program so I don't even know what my password is.
Unfortunately if you are asked and refuse they will most likely decide not to give you the job regardless of how you performed in the interview :mad: - the article says this is not illegal in that case it should be made illegal (not sure if it will help as people still discriminate based on age etc.)
I can understand them looking at facebook profiles and other publicly available information on the internet but asking for logins for your accounts etc. is totally unacceptable in my opinion.Justin Bassett, a New York-based statistician, had just finished answering some standard character questions in a job interview, when he was asked to hand over his Facebook login information after his interviewer could not find his profile on the site, according to the Boston Globe.
Bassett refused and withdrew his job application, as he did not want to be employed by a business which would invade his privacy to such an extent.
While Lee Williams, an online retail worker from the Midlands, told The Telegraph that he was asked by his managing director for his Facebook login details, after his boss had looked him up on the social network and could not see any details about him as his privacy settings were locked down. The boss thought that Williams was hiding something by not having his profile publicly available.
Williams refused to hand his password over. His boss persisted with his request, but then let it go without taking any further action. Williams still works for the company, but did not wish to name it.

I wouldn't work for anyone who asked me for my log in. Would they follow me home and sit around watching my interactions with my family and friends in real life?Yes Your Dukeiness0

Based on your own posts, you seem to have a habit of telling them to shove the job before you even have an interview never mind asking for a password.
And we know any of this story is true because …0 -

How bizarre, an interviewee doesn't know the interviewer from any other random stranger - and you wouldn't give a random stranger your private details.
Heck I've been advised against allowing interviewers to photocopy identity documents such as passports or birth certificates (before a confirmed job offer) due to the high possibility of identity theft & the fact you have no idea what happens to those photo copies after your interview.
Indeed scammers have been known to set up fake interview days in hotels etc. just to collect as many peoples personal details as possible for this very purpose.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -

If everyone says no thanks and gets up and leaves then opps where does that leave the company.0 -
Besides, if the employer won't employ you without access to your face book it begs the questions
a) why admit you have a facebook account in the first place? &
b) why not just ask the interviewee to add you to their friends list - the interviewer can give out THEIR profile link!A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -

Good for your, your looking for a job, not to give up all your privacy, dignity and rights.
i am getting thoroughly fed up with some people on these boards who seem to thing unemployed people either have or should have less rights and respect than those in work:(:(

Soon if all of these people carry on this way we will be shoving kids back up chimneys!0 -
eh? I never said unemployed have less rights! I know a lot on here who think you should do ANYTHING to get a job and once there shut up and say nothing and just get on with it!

You picked me up wrong! I was complimenting you on your stance. The comment about people's rights was not directed at you, but at some people in these boards.0
