You would think, but the CMC was bombarding me with 3-4 calls each day, hanging up simply meant their dialer system would just recall hours later.

Even though I'm TPS registered, I've been getting a lot of PPI calls and some from solar panel companies. A while ago, I bought a phone that allows me to bar numbers, so as soon as I get a sales call I just add it to the blocked list. It's been quite effective

Yes, it's only a problem when the number is "withheld" or it's an international call.
Blocking withheld calls is an option, of course, but some normal calls can be lost as a result.
It's annoying, particularly for anyone at home during the day (when most sales calls are made)

I was finally in when they called today. One mention of the TPS resulted in me being removed from their database but as one of the earlier posters found, they terminated the call after the briefest 'sorry Sir I'll remove you from our database' conversation.
