These are our current rules and we ask members to respect this site's ad free stance. Thanks.
On less direct questions i can see a clear reason for this rule, but when someone asks for recomendations on a host (and searching through google for hosts is a real pain! most are talking more per month than I've paid per year in the past! So, if people want to know of hosts as long as someone makes their affiliation with the company clear then I think we're all capable of taking this into consideration when looking at the different products. Pretty much to make the best decision we need as many possible products from as many companies as possible.0 -
I use this company http://www.betterwebspace.co.uk
because the rates are low and there's a large number of "extras" available in the easy-to-use "C-Panel". I like the fact that I can have a virtually unlimited number of email addresses including Autoresponders and forwarders.
Hosting costs typically £12 a year and they will register a domain for me for typically £10 for 2 years. So it's costing me £17 a year.
The company is run by Keiron who is very responsive to emails and goes out of his way to fix problems. (Yes, problems do occur but downtime is minimal).
I am not a reseller (the link above is a direct one with no hidden code) and I'm not affiliated with the company in any way.
I use other companies, too, but this one strikes the best balance between price and reliability.
I've tried many ISPs since I came "on line" in 1995 and most were found wanting. Many of them (like Pipex and 1&1) seem to be large companies who ignore emails or send unhelpful, indifferent replies.0 -
i tried many hosting co's and many of them were 'cheap', and found the service to be terrible. you do get what you pay for. Eventually, i purchased my Own VPS, so now i host my own websites, and have FULL control over the server, so any problems, i fix them straight away. I can offer webhosting on this, and as i am not runing this as a business, it would be very cheap, as i am not after making a profit, just trying to cover my monthly rental of the server.0
