I read it as she was trying to be positive for you. I mean most disabled people I know say they'd work if they could - she is just trying to keep things positive, maybe you could work if your meds were controlled.
JC+ staff are NOT there to give medical advice in any format, nor can anyone force you to accept any treatment,OP if i were you i would write to the JC+manager,or complain to my MP (as long as your mp isnt iain duncan smith)0 -
Constant pain in back, knees, feet, neck, shoulder all the way down the left arm because of arthritis. Pain in back with Scoliosis. Headaches because of neck pain. Pain in belly nearly all the time cos of IBS. Can't take Ibuprofen type painkillers cos of stomach. Just take normal painkillers.Hi constantworrier - I note you say you suffer a lot of pain, just wondering about your symptoms and what has been done so far?0 -

Young man who was working in jcp, just walking around was very helpful, got me water and kept asking if I was ok. The interview lasted 35 minutes. Lady was ok. She kept telling me I can work with Depression/anxiety/IBS just need right medication. And I can work with all the Arthritis/Scoliosis pains I've got, I just need right medicaton. Proceeded to tell me they have someone working who is in a wheelchair and someone working on switchboard that is blind. She said if I have the right meds I would be able to sleep better because I would be painfree. I said surely I can't be taking medicines 24 hours a day every day, it would ruin my stomach, and I already have stomach problems, she said no it wont if it's the right meds. I felt very bad, like she was saying if someone in a wheelchair can work so can you. She didn't want to hear that I am in constant pain. I told her I had been to see pyscologists/pychiatrists and nothing seemed to help me but she said that it was a long time ago and now it would probably help. Now I'm dreading the next one in October already. Feel really bad.
Personally I would be lodging a complaint to the DWP about this person. They have had no medical training whatsoever yet are suggesting that the GP/Consultant isn't doing their job right and not prescribing the correct medication.
Notwithstanding what she thinks, I would also have a word with the GP and tell them that this lady at the Jobcentre has suggested that you are on the wrong medication. Most GP's would not be too happy to hear that.0 -

There's being positive and positive!
The DWP are suggesting that with a change in medication all will become well.
That woman should be told by the poster that they have no intention of going back to work or even thinking/contemplating the idea until they feel fit enough to do so.
The trouble is no one really knows what their rights are and how far they can go with these refusals before their benefit is removed because of non co-operation.They just assume that they have to go along with everything they are told. The next thing will be looking at voluntary work and before you know it they have you working in a charity shop for 20 hours a week!
With people like that, you have to stand your ground and tell them that they are spouting rubbish!0 -
I read it as motivation - they never failed their test or denied their benefit.
Puzzled as to why someone trying to be positive would result in Op saying they can't do another interview. Op admits they were nice and pleasant, none threatening and in the end agreed with them that at present they are not fit for work.0 -

Yet they left the OP feeling like this......constantworrier wrote: »I felt very bad, like she was saying if someone in a wheelchair can work so can you. She's manipulating you OP. The sooner you make them realize you've sussed them out the better it'll be. They have rules but they act with impunity because their clients don't know these rules.
Covert recording is the best route here.0 -
Because she could be talking nonsense.princessdon wrote: »I read it as motivation - they never failed their test or denied their benefit.

She's doing something she's not qualified for, but that's why they employ them, to push people through the system.
Giving bad advice can be worse than giving no advice.0 -
Absurd. This is why i covertly record anything and everything to do with these things.
THEY ARE NOT SUPPOSE TO GIVE MEDICAL ADVICE
BASE ADVICE ON PERSONAL OPINION
OR COMPARE YOU TO OTHER DISABLED WORKERS!
Disgusting, i would have recorded it and off the back of this evidence made a complaint possibly involving my MP.
Most definitely!!!0 -

It could be seen as motivation, but the issue is, JC staff are not meant to give medical advice in any way.“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0
